help new scoring system

Recommended Posts

Ok, new scoring system this year...and i am not sure what to.

I have the 8th pick in a 10 team draft. Given that there are no sure thing RBs after the first 3-4 any more....

Scoring 6 PTS for ALL TOUCHDOWNS (passing, receving and rushing), it used to be 4 for passing...

1 for 25 yards passing

1 for 10 rush/receive

Who do i Pick?

I will assume Brady is gone, so -- i will have a choice of Moss, Lynch, Barber, Portis, Gore...

If i pick rb at 8 then coming back up at 13 do i go for better WR or running back since they are thin? OR, QB (romo, palmer) assuming manning is gone?

Help please?

i have a similar problem with adjusting players based on a new scoring

i just take a look at avg stats per game for a stub QB RB WR

QB - 200yds; 2TDs = 28pts

RB - 100yds; 1TD = 16pts

WR - 100yds; 1TD = 16pts

if you believe romo will be available at the turn then id go barber/gore then romo. only problem with barber is that barber and romo will screw you during a bye week.

hope that helps.

I agree I wouldnt over pay for a QB. If they are going early take advantage of loading up else where. I like Cutler this year. I think he could throw 25-30 tds. That is what a Palmer or a Big Ben is going to give you and he is usually going somewhere between the 8th and 10th round. Let other people over pay for a QB.

If Brady isn't there, I would still go for a RB at that point then get Manning/Romo on the flip side in the 2nd if you think they'll be around. That scoring defintely bumps the value of all QB's.

IF I go for RB 1 in first round then Manning romo on way back in 2nd round --- mY RB 2 will be real weak.

Well you have three issues.

1. how the scoring system will affect this draft. With 6pts all tds, QB will be king (say that 7 teams will draft one in first 23 picks.

2. how will injury, new teams, loss of players, new systems affect the pool. Your perception of the season. (I am negative this season. I don't see depth anywhere and lots of uncertainty)

These two are knowns.

3. What is unknown is what your fellow drafters will do.

Can you rely on past draft strategies and benefit from this. This includes knowing that x won't take an injured player in first two rounds. or y won't draft anyone that is on nfl team blank, etc.

As for what I would do.

I would look at item number 2 above. If I felt the quality of the pool is negative, I would plan to take a QB early (likely second pick depending how the draft is going). If I thought it positive I would wait until 3rd/4th round and draft my backup early say 6th or 7th picks. (IMO this year is a negative year, I don't see depth anywhere).

Then if I knew the tendencies of those drafting 9 and 10, this will be key. Cause with your first pick, you need to figure out roughly who will be there at your second pick. So you can determine the likelihood of those I want cant slide through to my next pick.

What you will be hoping is that by your pick only 1 qb is taken.

This would be Brady without a doubt (today).

If this is the case. I would expect either or both TO and Moss to be gone. With 4 to 5 rbs drafted (ap, lt, bw, ?, ?)

That stated, what would you do?

I would let the qb slide to next pick. Romo/Manning/Brees or other is still there.

But if TO is still on board or a MBIII. They won't be and what would then be?

Only way in this situation you take a qb in the first is i you cannot and will not take Brees or Manning this early.

hth

run a few mental mocks and see what you think may play out.

Take this to the next turn as well.

Is best prep possible and realistic.

BTW, forgot to add another scenario

I don't expect a wr will be taken in the first round, except at picks 8, 9 10.

I would expect that at least 2 qb's are drafted. And that Brady will be taken by the 3rd pick.

Given Manning injury, Romo will be taken next.
