GreatGray 2 Posted September 26, 2008 Just wondering if anyone else has picked up Deion Branch (or Engram) this week. With Seattle hurting so bad for a WR to step in, it seems like he's got potential to be worth a roster spot, especially right now with very little upside on the wire. They've been stepping up the running game as well, which bodes well for the team overall. Sounds like Engram may be back soon too, but he's an old fart coming off an early-season injury...still, is he the better pickup? Who do you take, if either? I'm thinking Branch is going to step in and be a solid WR2 starting next week, plenty of upside if he can stay healthy. I'm a little more skeptical about Engram, but he's worth a roster spot above most the other options on the wire right now, assuming he plays next week. AnaheimRams 28 Posted September 26, 2008 I actually drafted Engram late... but had to let him go for a WW move. I picked him up this week and took him over Branch. I think it's essentially a coin flip... however... the decision for me was decided on three points: 1. A shoulder is not quite as scary an injury for a WR. If your shoulder is f-ed... maybe you drop a few you woulda caught before. But if your KNEE is f-ed... you won't get open much and won't get any passes to catch. 2. Engram hasn't missed an entire offseason. 3. Engram has been shown to be a marginally more consistent a producer than Branch. Like I said... I woulda been happy with either, but I had to put one higher on the waiver order... so that's why.
PunkRockRedneck 8 Posted September 27, 2008 I just picked up Branch as a FA. Engram is still available too. I really don't know which one would be better honestly. But I figured I'd just stash him away and see how it plays out.
GlennG31 0 Posted September 27, 2008 I picked up Engram earlier this week in order to beat the WW dash for him in my PPR league. I'll just stash him on my bench until after Seattle's bye and see how he does after that. I'm not expecting him to put up monster numbers...maybe 5-6 catches a game, 60-70 yards, and a TD every now and then with the possibility of better games every so often. That's good enough for my WR3. He caught 90+ passes last year, so you know he'll be money in a PPR league.

ZeroTolerance 584 Posted September 27, 2008 Both were drafted, and since there are about 70 WRs on rosters at any given time I was only able to grab Branch when his owner panicked and dumped him, so we'll see.
Hurricane 0 Posted September 27, 2008 Sorry, there are about 5 topics concerning Branch and Engram every week. Try the search function It's cute to see some people have so much time on their hands they take the time to reply like that. I put in for both Engram and Branch, in that order. In a PPR league, Engram is a freakin' monster. In a standard scoring league, I'd say they're a push. But I had Engram listed first for the exact reason AnaheimRams pointed out - a shoulder injury isn't as big of a deal as a knee. Branch has major question marks, but assuming they're both 100% healthy, I'd take either one, slight nod to Engram in PPR. (I ended up getting Branch)
Zefram0911 0 Posted September 27, 2008 I drafted Engram late in the draft and I dropped him in the second week for Eddie Royal... I just picked him up again and dropped Sproles for him. Cha ching? Who knows... Seattle's looking like a mess but I think that changes once Branch and Engram get back. All the reasons above... Engram before Branch. I'm a PPR league too. Darko M 0 Posted September 27, 2008 They're only useful in 3WR leagues. I think they're be slightly above average but neither are players I'd ever want to start in my 2WR league.

Great plan until injuries set in. I think most people are looking to add depth to their WRs. If you are at the bottom of the WW process now is the time to move on them. If available Chris Henry and Kevin Curtis should be looked at too.

What if there's recent news on the player ? FF is all about the NOW. You shouldn't be allowed to suggest searching until you've been here for at least 2 years. One could look on the first page each day and see new threads about the same players. 99.9% of the posters on here do not use the search function unless it's to say "I told you so". Once a thread hits page 2, its yesterdays news. Every FF site has been the same way since the dawn of FF. Better get over it soon or you will be stressed tomorrow morning when everyone starts new threads about Palmer, SJax, McGahee, and ADP - concerning their status.
