McPaul 0 Posted November 12, 2008 I'm in a custom league that uses voting to veto a trade. you need 6 votes in a league of 16 teams. After some significant discussion this past Saturday, I traded Steve Slaton for Larry Fitzgerald. They need help at RB and I need help at WR. this was vetoed even after 3 people including the commish told me to my face that they did not vote for veto. I know for a fact that at least 8 people haven't even logged into the league since I offered the trade, so I know those 3 people had to have voted against it, making them liars. the commish has a history of gathering people together to get his way. last week there was a trade of David Martin for Jason Witten that was accepted. when the commish saw the trade he became infuriated and gathered people to vote against it, including myself (and I think rightfully so) two weeks ago the commish changed the rules for playoffs in our league. playoffs origionally were only the first 4 teams. he changed them to be 8 teams and one extra week in wk 14. Well, guess what.... I'm the first place team in this league by a mile and he is in 4th place, hanging in there by a thread. in week 14, if it were a regular season game, he would have had to play me. he would have lost. (yes, obviously there's a reason why we play the games, but projections show he would have lost). Also, if he were to hang onto that 4th place spot... in the origional version of the playoffs he would have had to play the first place team, which would have been me. this commish has a tendancy to create his own drama, changes rules of the league as he sees fit and bullies people into ensuring he gets his way. am I just bitter the trade didn't go through? well, yes and no. Without fitzgerald, I would have continued to do fairly well and had a good shot at winning the league. I think the deal was fair. Slaton has a hard schedule the rest of the way and may see his looks drop somewhat, but Fitz has Breaston taking away looks. I think that the trade would have been vetoed no matter which players were involved, so I'm not really that choked by it. I'm not sure what would be the right way to handle this. at the moment, I have dropped out of the league. every position (WR & RB) that has been affected by this trade I have taken out my starters and left vacant, and I will not make any more changes for the rest of the year. I will not be joining his league next year. Confrontation will not help, as many people have confronted him regarding his tactics (these type of tactics he engages in extend far beyond the reaches of fantasy football) in the past. I would kinda like to send a message to the guy and to the league that these tactics are not acceptable. It's been a weird night. I'll take a break, revisit this thread tomorrow night and would be curious about your responses. thx.
McPaul 0 Posted November 12, 2008 oh, and I just noticed that now he has locked both of our teams out from trading. Trade deadline in the league is this friday.

Dallas_Empire 0 Posted November 12, 2008 That trade is fine. Slaton for Fitz is not completely even as Fitz is a top stud WR and Slaton is a very good Rb option but not a top 5 stud, however all trades should be allowed. Both teams agreed to the trade and it should not have been blocked. Sadly, fantasy football like most things in life can be ruined by one insignificant loser who feels the need to get the control he lacks in real life from dominating and ruining your league. These morons are the little men of the fantasy world. They are gonna win at all costs and they will break, rewrite and modify rules to benefit their team at the expense of others. No rules should ever be changed mid season. The second you found out this commish and I use the term loosely was going to change the rules mid season you should have dropped all of your roster and told the league to go F them self. You allow it once and he will do it again and again until he basically has 100% control over the league. You were wise to quit the league and it sounds like the commish is some short, weak fat guy who thinks he is an actual NFL player because he manages a fantasy league filled with cubicle dwellers. Pretty pathetic! Don't worry because at least 50% of all fantasy leagues have these morons in them and I assure you others have to deal with the same crap. Dallas_Empire 0 Posted November 12, 2008 The title of this post should have been-"This is why you shouldn't join free teen female leagues" DRAMA This is obviously a pay league filled with fat cubicle dwellers. The motivation of winning that "huge" $200 prize would allow these losers to double their weekly salary. Only a money incentive would create such douche bag behavior. madd futher mucker 36 Posted November 12, 2008 I hope this wasn't your only league this year....sad way to end a fantasy season. Next year, get in a league with players that you know and respect, a commissioner with integrety, some rules in writing, and no voted vetoes (if voted vetoes, join the league only if at least 75% is required to veto). This veto, and the way your league has been run is total horsesh1t. If you are not completely locked out yet, post this thread on the league message board and then put every one of your players on waivers. At least you get the satisfaction of completely f**king up the league on the way out. Actually it appears that it is really your commish that f**ked up the league. ackattack 0 Posted November 12, 2008 how did he change the playoffs ....does he have god powers in this league..dont the other owners have to approve it? Probably wouldnt be hard as only 4 teams were going to make the playoffs and the other 12 would be easy to convince that they should be included..hmmm. I wouldnt quit this year... I would try and send the trade thru again and post a thread on your message board that the trade is fair and you would like to listen to any one who believes otherwise....then kick his ass in the playoffs and then steal his players and make your own league...that way your ruin his little hitler domain....or try the trade with a 3 to 2 player swap if you can find some garbage to include from his roster that he or you wont use the rest of the year....have him include a kicker or something they can be replaced..more than one way to skin a cat. $epphori$ 118 Posted November 12, 2008 1st off....changing rules mid season is complete bull....rule changes should be addressed in the offseason and decided for the season to come...let me guess your commish wouldnt make the playoffs with only 4 teams going in...and with 8 teams he is in...focking POS cheater...I would get out of that league ASAP
McPaul 0 Posted November 12, 2008 so basically my initial reaction was right and I should just quit the league hey? and no it's not completely even but really no trade is. I still want to be professional and not stoop to his level of drama, so I wont be attacking him by posting this thread and furthering the issues . he's the commish, so he can basically make changes as he sees fit. the league is run online and he's got the controls. ERZER 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Free league.....stop playing all your best players but don't be completely obvious. Pay league....his action to lock down both teams is tantamount to meddling in your team management and he owes you money for managing both your teams. McPaul 0 Posted November 13, 2008 Free league.....stop playing all your best players but don't be completely obvious. I like that. Alright, for the rest of the year, my team is: Quinn, Welker, Avery, Ginn, Hightower, Norwood, Boss, Kaeding, Chicago worst I can do is finish 10-3. -shrug-
rozniarek 0 Posted November 13, 2008 Dude your in first place and you quit.I think you fell for the bait. With you gone he has a better shot at winning the league.Personally i think Fitzgerald for Slat is a B.S. trade. Larry is top 5 in catches and yards with a MVP QB throwing to him.Slat splits carries with green when he's healthy and there team sucks.Screw the majority vote rule, it's his league .If people don't like it see ya. what is the purpose of a Commish if he has no control over trades. You have to or snakes will try to pull shady moves and friends and relatives will help each other out. But i think it's bull ###### that he is changing rules during the season.Rules should be made in a separate meeting among players before the season and they should be etched in stone. If i were you i wouldnt drop my players and screw everyone else.I was in a league where a guy got drunk and over bid in a auction draft and he lost his first pick by rule.He got pissed and let his players go and everyone picked them up. What a mess.My advice is stay in the league if you still can and try to win. Your in first place.Just think of the look on his face when that punk has to pay you up.Go for it. mrgymrat 0 Posted November 13, 2008 Sorry it hasn't worked out for you. I would definitely look for a different league next year but would maybe keep playing your team this year just to rise above it all. I would however freeze people out and quit communicating with anyone in the league I didn't trust or respect (especially the Commish). Just my 2 cents and GL with whatever you do. If you're totally done then I think we can all understand why.
phan420 0 Posted November 13, 2008 Why are only 6 votes needed in order to veto a trade? If it's majority rules and even if you take the 2 teams that are involved out, you would still need 8 votes to be majority. Shady #1. There's no way in hell he can change the rules mid-season. Plain and simple, no if's and's or but's about it. You HAVE to bring this up on a message board or in an email to the league. Shady #2 How can he lock your teams out from any further trading before the deadline?? Shady #3 I agree with some of the other responses here about not quitting just yet. You're in 1st and have a decent shot of winning it all. Don't give up on that money just yet, it's not worth it to you. It's the old saying of: "cut of your nose to spite your face". You lose in the end. Stick the season out, win it all, then stick it to him after that. Start your own league, take everyone with you and then as another poster on here likes to say: "go over to his house, knock on the door and punch him in the face". We Tigers 71 Posted November 13, 2008 If this is a money league, just keep rolling and see if you can win, and don't come back next year. I dislike the idea of manager voting for vetoes, but I loathe a system that only requires 6 of 16 to block it. I'd be amazed if a single trade ever went through on that system. Win this year, ditch these losers next year. Oh, and tell the league that it's stupid for the rules to change midseason, but that you'll still beat their asses even if you have to go another round in the playoffs.
