Every team has it's supporters and it's detractors (except for Detroit, who has supporters and those who feel sorry for the supporters). There is no "America's Team", and no Dallas Cowboys or Atlanta Braves marketing schmuck will change that.

how can you have this poll without the Cowboys? oh wait, you hate the Cowboys. poll means nothing

Run down your argument for them being America's Team. I mean besides the self-proclamation. They don't even have the hottest cheerleaders anymore.

New England is chock full of American History and has 3 titles.

Philly is where the Dec of Independence was signed.

NY is NY.

Pittsburgh is the heart of the American steel industry, 5 titles, and the most dedicated fans in the sport.

Indy is middle America.

Sh!t, I forgot the Redskins. :pointstosky:

I agree. You have to include the Cowboys in the poll since they have been called America's team forever. Meaningless poll. :pointstosky: In fact, meaningless topic; who really gives a shite?

I'll use my Pats hatred explanation for you. I don't hate the teams, I hate the majority of their fans. And the Pats are in the poll.

SO let's hear your argument. They haven't won a playoff game since the mid 90s, they choke more then the Mets, and they have no player that is easy to root for.

Who cares? It is a meaningless term made up for marketing purposes.

What do you think America's team means? To me it means nothing!

The list seems arbitrary. In any case, I think it's time for America to adopt a new team.

America's new team=Arizona Cardinals

You are acting like this "America's Team" media campaign is a real thing.

if you actually go by fan attendance at away games, nation-wide fan clubs, home bars for transplants, etc, I believe it's the Green Bay Packers

Stop being dumb, there isn't an "America's Team"

Whichever team won the last Super Bowl is as close as it gets and that usually changes every year.

and you would be wrong...especially in the attendance at road games part, the Steelers Nation travels like non-other.

from a former nfl player:

Steelers fans are the best

the Cowgirls are America's most overrated and overexposed team, but they are nothing close to America's Team.

I meant in an "all aspects considered" kind of way. not just road attendance. And even that goes in cycles. I know that everyone says that the Steelers currently get the best road attendance, but 10 years ago, it was the Pack by a mile.

For sparing us having to hear any Cowboys playoff, hype/fluff stories, I think the Eagles get to be called America's Team...at least for the next year.

I still can't believe that game. What a complete punch in the face.

Packers :music_guitarred:

How are they not on the list? :(

Or is this like when Playboy did their top-10 party schools in the nation and didn't include UW-Madison because they "don't rank professionals with amateurs"?

I assume "America's team" is defined as the most popular team among all Americans (true sports-fans or not). Under that definition, Dallas is "America's team" by far which is why this poll is kinda interesting. There doesn't seem to be a clear cut second-most-popular team.

My guess is the New York Giants are second most popular given all the media hype sports teams in New York generate.

While I certainly agree that teh term "America's team" is just a marketing ploy and doesn't mean a thing, if you want to truly determine who America's most popular team is, don't ask how many people like them, ask how many people hate them.

In my experiences, there are four teams that other fans seem to hate the most. In no particular order, Dallas, New England, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. One thing they all have in common is success. Obviously, its of varying degrees, but all are certainly successful franchises.

As good as the 49ers were for a stretch, you don't hear many Niner-haters. Nobody hates the Browns, Saints, Bills, or Lions (divisional rivalries aside). The teams simply aren't relevant enough to hate.

So, take your pick, but one of those four is America's team.

Disagree. The Ravens are one most disliked AND least popular teams in the NFL.

"America's Team" really means: "Team That Would Get Highest SuperBowl Ratings". And Dallas is unquestionably #1. My guess was Giants would be #2, but who knows.

Really not fair to match a small market, family owned team like the Steelers against the largest TV markets in America, of course those teams will draw better TV ratings. It's the same reason the NBA arranges to have Boston and LA good again at the same time and MLB hypes up the RedSox v Yankees matchups.

Really?

Other than Cleveland fans and the normal division rivalries, I've never noticed any extra hatred for Baltimore.
