phillybear 366 Posted January 20, 2009 Just read the speech, really good speech. The last 3 paragraphs are great. Especially the part where the president banned guns, snow didn't exist due to Global Warming, and half the soldiers were openly gay and buttfocking each other. Which explains all the blood. wiffleball 4,797 Posted January 20, 2009 we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. Pretty sure I saw Cheney grip his chest at this.

Me_2006 14 Posted January 20, 2009 This is the worst poem I've ever heard. It's not even really a poem. Its just weird words from some skank I've never heard of. Seriously, if anyone or anything could be a buzzkill to what we just saw...this broad has it.

Me_2006 14 Posted January 20, 2009 I think they just aired Def Poetry Jam live on TV. ...Yellow will be mellow, the red man can get ahead man, white will embrace what is right.
Blitzen 1 Posted January 20, 2009 Well he didn't exactly lower the bar with this speech. Can any human - or semi-deity for that matter - live up to these expectations? I will say now that if he turns out to be just another power-hungry old-school politician, cynicism may become so prevalent that you may reach record lows in voting %. Blitzen 1 Posted January 20, 2009 If there was any clearer example of the guy needing a teleprompter ALL the time. The guy administering the oath focked up apparently. That's why Obama waited for him to rephrase.

NewbieJr 541 Posted January 20, 2009 Absolutely brilliant speech. Exactly what this country needed right now. Motivational without being pep-rallyish, stright to the point, and most-importantly, confidence building. If you didn't walk away from that feeling better than you did when you first turned it on, then you just watched it with hate and preconceived notions in your head. A+++

FeelingMN 273 Posted January 20, 2009 It was a very good speech. An overall message that is needed today: the American people need to do more to make America great. cmh6476 1,129 Posted January 20, 2009 You know how I know you're cool? Because you still show your racism like its 1960. That's just super impressive. You have to be honest, "white will do what's right" is a pretty bold statement. So how long has the white race not been doing what's right? I can't fix the fact that years ago slavery existed and not too long ago blacks were segregated. But if anything they're not being held down now, in fact we may be feeling the effects of reverse discrimination with affirmative action programs. How about we start treating each other equally? His statements referenced here do not seem to indicate to me that he wants to. I can look past the fact that I am white Mr. President. Can you?

I wonder if he'll do any kind of speech over at Andrews before he gets on the plane ride home. I have a feeling that Bush will end up being a very well-liked ex-President. I don't mean people will look back and think he did a decent job, I just mean that I think that as the years go by, his good nature will start to rise above the terrible job he did as president and the American public will start to really grow to like him. Me_2006 14 Posted January 20, 2009 Biden really LOOKS like a President. He's kind of an idiot and has verbal slip ups once in awhile, but just from a "looks the part" standpoint, he's got it. Plus, his wife is hot.

I was thinking the same, except I was thinking about him being wheeled out to the cops and him telling them that he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those medeling kids and that mangy mutt. Wouldn't surprise me. Hell, Nixon drew a lot of accolades by the time he died. Bush won't try to do anything of any substance like Carter did, so he probably won't be raising any hackles ever again. Its inauguration day, we ALL just swore in an African American president. No point in taking 5 steps forward and 45 steps back with words like that. You're probably the guy who agreed with that squirrely reporter (cant remember his name) when adressing Pete Rose's gambling on a day he was being honored by fellow players, and then was shunned by them

If you didn't walk away from that feeling better than you did when you first turned it on, then you just watched it with hate and preconceived notions in your head. A+++ Couldn't have said it better. I was definitely inspired by the hope of us becoming united as a country and as a world. Now, if he just backs up his words with action then all will be well. I think he recognizes that the eyes of history are upon him and he wants to build his legacy from the start and not wait until the last 4 weeks of his term to work on it. I wish him and every single one of us the absolute best in the next four years. There is hope if we can get over our own egos.

wiffleball 4,797 Posted January 20, 2009 oh damn, I'm not watching still, he afforded that negro the opportunity to get up their and speak I figured that had to be the case. Regarding your second comment, I was listening to that crazy poet lady this weekend and to my utter shock, she said that absolutely NOBODY had vetted / reviewed / edited her poem ahead of time. Focking astounding given the past administration. Of course, now that we heard the poem, maybe somebody should have.
