Geek Club Republican Strategic Planning Session

Recommended Posts

ok guys, looks like we need to band together here and and have strength in numbers to get Conservative Republican leaders back in positions of power. We can't lay blame or look back at what went wrong, we need to look for our future leaders and get them running for public office.

These Dem and so-called Independent posters on here keep bragging about how Barack Obama is going to work across party lines and reach out to solve our nation's problems. He's going to bring Peace to the middle-east. He's going to eliminate racial barriers, so we all live equally. He's going to solve all our nation's health care woes. He's going to do this, and do that, and include Republicans in the process.

We'll more power to him. We all want great changes, but there seems to be one glaring difference between us and them. This fundamental philosophical difference on the government's role in our nation's challenges. They believe expanding government and more oversight is the way to tackle our problems. I believe lessening the role of government and allowing the citizenry the opportunity to solve its own problems is the way to go. And even if Obama does try to move more to the middle, you are going to have Pelosi and Reid trying to pull him farther and father to the left. And how long will he stay in the favor of his cronies to the far left if he doesn't get us out of Iraq and fufill their liberal left policies.

It's not that we want him to fail. It's simply that we're going to see actions and policies to which we do not agree with. It's our job as Republicans to spread our message, get good candidates running, and help those people get elected. It's up to me and you. It's up to me to help keep outgoing Sen. Kit Bond's seat in Republican hands in 2 years. It's up to me to keep our State House and Senate in Republican control in 2 years, when numerous incumbents are termed out and open seats are up for grabs. And it's up to you fellas and gals to do the same thing back home in your own area. We can get this to swing back in our favor, but it's going to take a lot of work. I'm ready. Are you?

They need to worry more about the 2010 mid-terms and get back some control of the house and senate...

Don't worry about 2012 at all until the mid-terms are over with...

But they need to get back to their conservative roots, which is best for the country...

The Dems will have a honeymoon and the failures of the Bush era -as well as Congressional Republican enabling of the Bush era- will be remembered less and less. The first things the Dems will do is overhaul the unpopular things that Bush did and reverse course everywhere needed. They'll have lots of broad support in their coallition for that. When that work is done, liberals will get antsy for more change than the moderates are willing to give. If the liberals are able to push through too many left wing programs, it'll alienate the middle. That's the GOP's chance.

The GOP scared off the moderates, calling them RINOs and such and demanding party line vote after party line vote on a steady march to focked up government and political oblivion. So many things where loyalty trumped competence or performance or conceience or anything. The backlash was the whole center shifted to the Democrats and a great suspiscion of the Republicans. The Dems now have a faultline between their liberal wing and their moderates. Lots of Democrats are in conservative districts and will maintain a moderate/conservative voting record to win. Republicans in more liberal districts don't exist, all the moderates have been purged since the GOP brand name is disgraced. The GOP is reduced to conservative districts only that they should have by default.

Two years ago, the GOP nominated a fine candidate for US Senate, Mike Bouchard, who normally I would have voted for over Stabenow, but I didn't give him the time of day because there was simply no way I was voting Republican in 2006. But as the Bush years fade, things'll change, guys like Bouchard will win. The GOP gained a lot of respect back IMO by nomnating John McCain for the presidency.

Best thing, wait for the Dems to fock up and move to the center and pick up votes of people disillusioned when the Dems start tilting too far leftward.

I consider myself a "fiscal conservative" I tend to vote republican because I believe in a smaller government. However Bush was the biggest spender this nation has ever known. Thats why we got screwed in this election, we need the republican party to get back to its roots, lower spending, lower taxes.

I wouldn't count on getting the congress back into republican control any time soon though, last time the dem's controlled it, they controlled it from JFK all the way through part of Clinton's term.

Kit Bond's seat is up in '10. We'll have to work to retain that Republican seat, as Robin Carnahan, daughter of late Gov. Mel Carnahan and current Secretary of State is the likely Dem, and she set a record for number of votes cast for her in the State of Missouri this past November. Our likely candidates are Congressman Roy Blunt (former Majority Whip) or Jim Talent who lost the other Senate seat to Claire McCaskill. Then McCaskill's seat will be up in '12, and we need to give her a run for her money then. I don't see any Congressional seats switching hands here, but Missouri could lose a House seat in '12. Which would be bad because then your Republican leaning districts begin to shift further into StL and KC. Not good.

I am getting my kicks out of how bitter many repubs are today. 8 years of Bush and now hours of Obama and you are already complaining. So bitter, so funny.

I will say a few republican posters reacted well today and took it in stride without looking all whiney and bitter.

i'm not bitter. I also don't have much in expectations. Look, if Obama does all these great things, more power to him. And I do wish him all the best, if he can bring Peace to the Middle East and encourage dumb muslims to not want to kill us, I'll give the man props. But I still think we'll see Energy bills that suck, not addressing the real problems and catering to liberal environmentalists. We'll see a Farm Bill loaded with govt handouts and welfare and enourmous conservation programs that care more about stupid endangered birds than our farmers that make sure you have milk and bread and eggs on the shelves everytime you go to the store. And we're going to see more regulations and taxation that hampers local industry and tougher for them to provide jobs to this citizens of this nation. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe he'll see things the way I tend to see them. Since that isn't really what he campaigned on, my expectations aren't that high.

The independents, like myself, are more of a mind set that Obama can go suck a d!ck. We hated Bush down the stretch, and we hate Obama right from the get go.

We are a bitter bunch, very cynical and distrustful, as both major parties keep sh!tting on us. My money no longer sits in a bank, I'm scrambling to buy more guns, and I'm buying up canned goods and nonperishables like there is no tomorrow. I'm ready to move into the middle of Idaho to get away from all these political do-gooders. I've been watching plenty of

Survivorman and I think it looks easy. The Republicans want to tell me what my morality should be, and the Democrats who want to get their grubby mits on my dough and dictate to me how I'm going to spend it.

cmh, it's time for a change, and join an Independent party. Unless, of course, you work for the Republicans still. Then go ahead and work for them, but vote for an independent. It'll be your secret, along with thousands of Geeks who know your name and where you live.

politics is local, always has been and always will be. My city council, county commission, and state legislature has more bearance on my daily activities than whether Obama or McCain became our President. We have quality Republican candidates either in office or running. I feel my responsibility is to help ensure we offer quality candidates in the Republican Party and support those candidates in their efforts. The party really doesn't matter, it's the candidates that matter.

Well, after the inevitable first big terrorist attack under Obama, the American people will see what a mistake they made. Hopefully then we'll get some real Republicans back in Congress in 2010, and they can start pushing for an invasion of Iran.

We also need to make sure that the Demwits don't push their junk science on the people. With the majority they have, they'll be pushing evolution and 'global warming' hard, and we can not allow that to happen. Reinvest in funding for ID and anti-GW research. We can probably attach these as earmarks to Bomama's crappy stimulus bill.

Lastly, we definitely need to focus on getting Sarah Palin into the WH in 2012. We've only just seen flashes of her greatness, if she wasn't paired with a RINO we wouldn't even be having this discussion. It sickens me how she was treated by the media, and the McCain campaign allowed that to happen. By 2012, she'll be more polished and ready to take America by storm.

Anyways, these are three key points of focus, IMO.

I'm sure with brilliant minds like yourself speaking the hard truth with facts and not the standard talking point, fear mongering positions of blowhards like Rush, the GOP will be back on top in no time.

I also think it's not going to take long before he begins to fail deliver on some of his promises. He promised this bipartisanship in all processes, yet nobody saw anything of this ridiculous "economic stimulus" until the Democrats proposed the gawd awful thing and threw it in the face of the Republicans via the media outlets. Lame. Everyone is so quick to blame Republicans for all this deficit spending (in war-time mind you) but Barry and co. come up with this gigantic bill that's going to be passed onto to our children, and nobody seems to mind in the spirit of economic ramifications. :music_guitarred:

Only the private sector can actually create wealth and therby stimulate economic growth, not the government. We need to provide relief and incentives to businesses to alow them to expand and new projects to take off. Debt is ruining this nation's economy. We are dwifting away from Capitalism and closer to socialism. Last week Obama said "only government" can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift the country out of the current recession. I disagree.

Fear mongering??? The Dems are the ones who use that now with this global warming insanity.

I doubt it will take long for the American people to realize that we just put the most liberal senator in the history of the senate in the oval office.

The biggest challenge will be the media. They have put Bush through the ringer, some of which was deserved. I wonder if they will even let Obama fail. Like how this Treasure sec. Obama nominated. An overwhelming majority of the media made it a point to say a million times that this was just some kind of honest mistake. While completely ignoring that this guy can't even fill out his taxes correctly and HE is going to be in charge with this sh1t now. It is beyond comprehension how easy of a pass this guy and Obama has gotten. That is just an example of what I am talking about with regards to the media hurdle. It's going to be tough, especially if Pelosi and the rest get their way with this fairness doctrine insanity that is nothing less than ending free speech.

Another huge hurdle will be the republicans themselves. Hopefully they won't be so scared to criticize Obama like they appear to be at the moment. They also need to get back to conservatism as well. Enough with this McCain type crap candidates.

Kay Bailey is gonna retire from the Senate to run for Governor (sorry Ron Paul supporters)

The seat will stay Republican, but I don't know who will emerge to take the spot.

Cornyn is a solid conservative and will be there for a long time.

My Rep in the House is Louis Gohmert. Definitely conservative and had the best economic stimulus plan out of anyone in DC, but it made sense and would actually stimulate the economy, not give gubmint more control, so it will go nowhere with Aunt Nancy, Uncle Harry, and the Chosen One running things.

Considering that I supported every plank, every word in the founding document of Republican Party's recent congressional majorities, the Contract With America I'm pretty disgusted that they ignored/forgot/discarded it the moment they took control of Congress. Then, after the abuses and mismangament of Bush, done with the full compliance along party line votes by Congressional Republicans, why I should trust the Republican Party again.

Masive deficits, unprovoked war, incredible mismanagment, policiticized appointments, unconstituional wire taps, a devalued currency, broken treaties, ignoring threats to global warming, avoiding energy independence and and an economy on the brink of collapse... that's the Republican party

Who really cares? These two corrupt, morally bankrupt parties will keep swaping congress and the white house back and forth like a drunk sorority girl until the country goes completely bankrupt, and the government completely collapses.

Arguing over which party controlls things is like having a preference as to which blind guy steers the Titanic. I have a prefereance, obviously, but it really doesn't matter. We're focked either way.
