Raider 84 29 Posted March 16, 2010 JaMarcus Russell did, in fact, show up significantly lighter at Raiders offseason workouts Tuesday. According to several teammates, Russell appears to be in much better shape now than he was during the 2009 season. Director of squad development Willie Brown indicated that Russell is eating better, working out, and doing whatever is asked of him in terms of preparation -- all with the assistance of a former Raiders player as appointed babysitter. e-factor 13 Posted March 16, 2010 Well, it's a start anyway........... Hope the kid can have some degree of success if he works hard. With his raw talent, he would be a fun guy to watch if he can get it together.............
Raider 84 29 Posted March 18, 2010 This just proves that Oakland has a real shot to contend with anyone in the AFC, even the Colts. Mark it down!
madd futher mucker 36 Posted March 18, 2010 This just proves that when Oakland management hires a full-time nanny to babysit for him, that he can lose weight. I don't care how slim the new Russell gets, it is not going to turn a terrible QB into a guy who can make quick and accurate reads, go through his progressions quickly and throw the ball to the right receivers at the right time. The jury has returned a verdict on Russell, and regardless of the weight loss while under the supervision of Al's hired babysitter, the verdict for all but the very senile is....he's a collossal bust. Sorry Raiderfan84 - if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and plays QB like a duck....it is just not gonna fly like an eagle or transform itself into Peyton Manning. But on a lighter note, check out this clip: http://www.bangcartoon.com/2009/selected_shorts.htm My favorite line: "Interceptions, Touchdowns, it don't matter....as long as the game check cashes, they're both the same to me". Check out the Brett Favre one too. Hilarious!
enis_44 0 Posted March 18, 2010 This is great news for Raiders fans. You want your backup Qb slim. It's like they always say, "You can't have a 300lb backup Qb" Wait... unless you're the Giants a few years back. What was my point?
R8RMick 242 Posted March 20, 2010 He's better off keeping the weight on, because his cluelessness as an NFL QB is going to get him killed next year.
madd futher mucker 36 Posted March 21, 2010 Per Rotorooter: "JaMarcus Russell reportedly weighed in at 271 pounds when he reported for workouts earlier this week. While 271 pounds doesn't sniff previous reports of Russell ballooning up to 300 pounds, it's still quite a bit heavier than his listed playing weight of 260. As usual, he's set the bar awfully low for his team's approval. Russell is only in shape compared to previous versions of Russell." So the "newer lighter" JaMarcus is now officially too light to play OT for the Raiders. BTW, didn't anybody else get a chuckle out of the JaMarcus Russell/Al Davis episode of "BANG Cartoon" that I linked?
Raider 84 29 Posted March 21, 2010 Those Bang cartoons are great. Russell makes the whole cartoon.

Saint Elistan 106 Posted March 27, 2010 So much for that... Two people reported that Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell returned to Oakland and tipped the scales at 290 pounds. At least he was under 3 bills. Schefter Twitter Roto's take: So Oakland can scratch left tackle off its list of needs.
Joey Gladstone 33 Posted March 27, 2010 So much for that...Schefter Twitter Roto's take: I just read that. Other then further tarnishing a historic franchise and owner's legacy, what did lying about his weight accomplish in the first place. Did the Raiders think they were just going to slip that by the unsuspecting public? Unbelievable!! And if it wasn't for San Diego giving up so much to move up so little and take Ryan Leaf, this fat slob would be the biggest bust in NFL history. What a useless, disgraceful, doughy, tard. He better hope The Biggest Loser is still on when The Raiders finally pull the plug.
doughboys_2002 11 Posted March 27, 2010 So much for that...Schefter Twitter Roto's take: Coming from a guy who's wife gave birth to a 14 pound baby girl...wonder if she was mixing it up with QB Lard A$$! Perfect example of someone that should be banned from football, and forced to live off the streets!
Raider 84 29 Posted March 27, 2010 He's already dropped at least 20lbs!

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted March 29, 2010 Jamarcus Russell is a joke. I knew coming out of college he was a bust. Let's see... perhaps the best physical talent of any qb in the history of ever, on very talented LSU teams with good backs, lines, and receivers, and he never manages to be an even significantly above average college QB? How does it take a genius to put the "lazy and stupid" tag on that guy? I am a UT fan, and as such, watch a lot of SEC football. The Russell led LSU teams would drive you crazy. They would flounder around on offense for three and a half quarters, be in a close game due to the awesome D... and then Russell would pull some throw out of his ass that would make your jaw drop for a TD, and the sportscasters would assume knob slobbing position, ignoring the three and a half quarters of mediocre to outright sh!tty play. I knew as soon as Oakland picked him number one that they were doomed for the near term future. Al davis should make me GM, I'm better by far than whoever does it now. thesitedoc 5 Posted March 29, 2010 ... than an elephant ...than a mini van ...than the rest of the Raiders combined ...the island of Maui There I thought the thread line needing finishing. Take your pick. Al is a freaking old retard who no longer knows what it takes to win in the NFL. The 60(bad drugs), 70(bad music), 80(bad hair) are gone and over with Al. Let someone young take over and return your franchise to its glory days.
swandown 0 Posted March 31, 2010 And if it wasn't for San Diego giving up so much to move up so little and take Ryan Leaf, this fat slob would be the biggest bust in NFL history. At least Ryan Leaf made an effort.
Raider 84 29 Posted April 1, 2010 It's just a learning curve for Russell. He should return to form this year and have 3500 yards and 25+ tds!
