It will certainly make for an interesting season when those two play.
jvirne 0 Posted April 5, 2010 Wow. Like someone said above, they traded their franchise QB to a division rival? I can't wait to see what the Skins gave up. I'll laugh if it's the #4 pick. My guess is a third rounder and assorted garbage.
TwentyFourSeven 23 Posted April 5, 2010 2nd Round pick this year and a 3rd or a 4th next year.

Gepetto 1,368 Posted April 5, 2010 Much before my time, but I recently heard that the Eagles traded Sonny Jurgenson to the Redskins. As a Redskin, Jurgenson played at a level that earned him induction into the pro football Hall of Fame.
JT 137 Posted April 5, 2010 Unbelievable. This is the deal they were waiting for, the one that was going to blow them away?!? I swear the front office is being run by spider monkeys. Just wait. Tebow will be an Eagle when this newly aquired pick rolls around.

I then suffered through years of King Corcoran, Rick Arrington and Norm Snead. I'm physically ill.
Mike FF Today 723 Posted April 5, 2010 A very interesting move on a number of fronts to say the least (division rival, etc). The Eagles obviously believe that Kevin Kolb can be a star in this league. He certainly has some nice weapons to work with and my gut instinct is, he will be an above-average fantasy QB in 2010. Can't wait to see how this plays out! Gepetto 1,368 Posted April 5, 2010 NFL Sirius Radio is having a LIVE show for 3 hours starting right now simply because of this trade.
Larry David 20 Posted April 5, 2010 My first thought when I heard this was, Philly must have gotten the Skins' first round pick. That's the only way they trade a guy still in his prime to a division rival, right? A 2010 second and a 2011 third or fourth? I think the Skins got the better of this deal. WhiteWonder 2,734 Posted April 5, 2010 i honestly dont buy kolb being that great, his passing yards as a starter aside. McNabb deserved way more respect and credit than he got... but hey, thats Philly fans. Anyone else think Andy Reid will be smiling on the inside when the Redskins beat the Eagles next year?
Kilroy 0 Posted April 5, 2010 I'm as surprised as everyone else that they dealt him to Washington. The Eagles will likely be among the more active teams on draft day though. They now have 11 picks and 5 of them are among the top 105 selections - and they have 8 among the first 137 selections. They'll have the ammo to trade up and grab guys they feel strongly about, or to trade picks from this year's draft for higher round picks next season. It should be a fun draft day for Eagles fans. Kilroy 0 Posted April 5, 2010 McNabb deserved way more respect and credit than he got... but hey, thats Philly fans. McNabb = overrated (in recent years) They'll be just as good with Kolb this year as they would've been with McNabb. It sets them up better going forward also. Gepetto 1,368 Posted April 5, 2010 I'm not suprised at all. I had a feeling Washington might be the team that gets McNabb. The compensation makes sense too, although I think the Redskins got the better of the deal.
ashwiggins 0 Posted April 5, 2010 Can the Eagles go to the superbowl with Kolb? Hell no. Could they have gone with McNabb? Maybe. The Eagles GM is a moron. They could have traded Kolb for a 2nd and 4th the following year and kept McNabb for five years. This is actually worse than the Favre disaster, because McNabb is only 33. What really makes this just an asinine trade is they traded him to a team they have to play twice each year. A first and a third for Roy Williams and Eagles get this crap for McNabb, wow. It couldn't happen to a better fan base, but I like McNabb and he deserved better.
Hawkfin 32 Posted April 5, 2010 I think Phily will be just fine.... I guess I'm just not a McNabb fan. I think he's overrated playing in a good system/team. Kolb will be a Quality to very good starter in Phily. McNabb to me was missing something - To take them all the way. He seems to choke when it's on the line in my view. If I was a Phily fan, I'd be fairly happy. Get something now for him while you can and let Kolb take over your future. The part I don't like is trading him to a Division foe. I mean McNabb will be "UP" for those games. He feels disrespected and will give it his absolute very best. They made Wash. horiable at QB to good/decent and allot better at QB now. They should have really tried to go else where with the trade. But, I still like them trading McNabb before he's completely waisted. I think they had to move him after all this talk. jgcrawfish 232 Posted April 5, 2010 so how high is Kolb as a draft pick in Dynasty leagues now (assuming he available, which he is in mine)?
Admiral Awesome 0 Posted April 5, 2010 Kolb's numbers aren't stellar. In 2008, he went 17 for 34 with no touchdowns and four interceptions. He improved in 2009 with 62 out of 96 for three touchdowns and four interceptions. These numbers don't mean everything, but Philadelphia must be seeing something we don't. GettnHuge 2 Posted April 5, 2010 Philthy fans might actually boo him less now when he plays at the Clink.
Chronic Husker 85 Posted April 5, 2010 McNabb = overrated (in recent years) They'll be just as good with Kolb this year as they would've been with McNabb. It sets them up better going forward also. Agreed. Philly has shown that they're not anywhere close to being a Super Bowl team. Any of their fans that think otherwise are delusional. The writing has been on the wall - letting Dawkins go last year and Westbrook this year. Good move to get two high picks for him while he still has value. Philly is at least transitioning into a team that can compete in 2-3 years.

That's the only way they trade a guy still in his prime to a division rival, right? A 2010 second and a 2011 third or fourth? I think the Skins got the better of this deal. I think it's a good deal for both teams: Yes, McNabb won a lot with Philadelphia, and probably deserves more home-town credit than he's gotten. But the dude is one of the most INaccurate QB's I've ever seen. I think he's relied a little bit on Westbrook and D. Jackson making big plays the past few seasons to boost his stats a little bit. He also USED to be able to use his feet as a weapon, something I just don't think he can do anymore. On top of all that, he's been a bit injury prone over his career. He's missed 28 games in his 10 year career - which means he'll give you 13 starts per year, on average. All that aside, he definitely makes Washington better. Is he worth more than the 27th overall pick, and either a 3rd/4th next year? Possibly, maybe even probably...But Philly has more than an adequate replacement that they clearly believe will be successful. Kolb has looked impressive, and is very young and could be the QB of the future for Philly. Philly can use that 37th overall pick on a solid RB (Matthews or Best), while addressing their DEF with their own first two picks. I rarely belive this, but I think both teams actually benefit from this trade.

fanfootballtn 33 Posted April 5, 2010 In the words of the late Redd Fox aka Fred Sanford to the Eagles GM......."You big dummy!" On the other hand, I'm trying to figure out who will replace Andy Reid in 2011 because he's next to go. Now way in hell the Eagles will be over .500 with the kind of offense he runs and Kolb is the quarterback. Andy Reid calling plays minus McNabb and Westbrook = Kolb out of the season and a 4-14 record. I guess a good way to look at this is the Eagles might have the 1st pick of the draft in 2011. Yippie Skippy 0 Posted April 5, 2010 I think the Eagles got a great deal for McNabb, but we will see how their draft picks pan out. The goal is to win games, win the division, win the SB, and this deal compromises those goals. The Redskins had a huge weakness at the most vital position to success and Philly willingly changed that. Tip my hat to the Rat, he is changing that team into a winner. Boston Three Party 6 Posted April 5, 2010 This completes my 2010 season of destruction!! So focking AWESOME. I wanted Kolb as my numero uno. NOW I GOT YA BABY. Kolb + Manning FTW. I will run RB heavy like a MOTHERFOCKER on my leagues. And laugh when you take Brees/Rodgers in the late 1st/2nd. And hell no, Moss isn't even close to a WR2 now, or ever. Watch Devin Thomas blow up this year. FML.
worm 36 Posted April 5, 2010 From Rotoworld: Adam Caplan of Scout reports that Albert Haynesworth was offered to Philadelphia in the Donovan McNabb trade, but the Eagles declined. Why sign someone to a huge contract w/ 41 million guaranteed, then be willing to trade him away a year later? They must really want McNabb, but it sounds to me like another case of the Redskins trading away their picks for someone that only has maybe a few years left. I'm with kmbryant, I'm not sure if they have the playmakers to help McNabb out. edit: I saw that Haynesworth has a 21 mil option due 4/1. Out of curiosity, would Philly had to have paid that if they got him?

Lackman 0 Posted April 5, 2010 The Redskins overpayed for a wretched, washed up, perpetually overrated diva that needs to be coddled and praised every three seconds. surferskin 30 Posted April 5, 2010 Washington just did the impossible and made the Charlie Whitehurst trade look genius for Seattle. I hate this trade about as much as any Redskin fan possible but this comment is still BS. Seattle got buttraped by the Chargers in that trade. Whitehurst is a nobody and a complete unknown. The Redskins on the other hand didn't overpay for a guaranteed top 12 QB.

I was fearful for a few days about the rumors, until Seattle said they had no interest in McNabb. That was a relief. Hasselbeck > McNabb.

I'm a diehard fan too, and I like this trade. McNabb should be a top 10-15 QB for the next 3-5 years and he is a proven winner. Campbell is not the answer, and this trade signifies they are finally moving on. I didn't want to waste another year with Campbell behind center.
