Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted October 5, 2010 Seattle swipes Marshawn Lynch from the BillsPosted by Mike Florio on October 5, 2010 2:25 PM ET So much for the Buffalo Bills driving a hard bargain when it comes to a possible trade of running back Marshawn Lynch. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Seahawks have finagled Lynch from the Bills for a fourth-round pick in 2011 and a conditional pick in 2012. As recently as Monday, the prevailing word was that, even though Lynch wanted out, the Bills wouldn't be trading him. Now they have. And the 2-2 Seahawks have picked up a potentially powerful weapon for their run at the NFC West crown. Meanwhile, the Packers continue to have no one to run the ball. As we pointed out in this week's power rankings, the pass-heavy attack should be working really well when the weather turns at Lambeau Field. Lynch is under contract through 2012, but it's possible that the sixth year of his rookie deal voids.

Hitman49er 0 Posted October 5, 2010 Who has the most value now? Lynch, Spiller, Jackson or Forsett?
surferskin 30 Posted October 5, 2010 Yuck. Well, maybe they'll give Spiller a few carries now.
Saint Elistan 106 Posted October 5, 2010 4th Rounder definitely isn't a bad price for Lynch. I wasn't even aware that Seattle was part of the bidding. Guess it's a decent fit since White didn't work out...probably leaves Julius Jones without a job? Pretty much destroys the value of Forsett, Lynch, and Washington in the immediate future. Who knows long term. On the flip side, Spiller and Jackson get a nice boost. Edit: After acquiring Marshawn Lynch, Seahawks released Julius Jones. - Schefter Heh, that was quick. Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted October 5, 2010 For that price, he should've been a Packer.
Saint Elistan 106 Posted October 5, 2010 For that price, he should've been a Packer. Indeed. That FO is pretty adamant about drafting their team. Hurts them this time. But hey...now they can go get Julius Jones.

Smileseers 54 Posted October 5, 2010 I wonder how high that 2012 conditional pick could be? We need to know that before we can judge how good of a deal the Seahawks got. Seattle had been in trade talks for Lynch since before the draft. Pete Carrol has been looking for a better RB since he went to Seattle. I've been saying for years on this bored that they needed a better RB. Nice move Seattle! You just got better today.
roroco 75 Posted October 5, 2010 I wonder what UFL team signs Jones. I would be shocked if the Packers don't jump on him. A free RB? Why not.
Big Blue 06 195 Posted October 5, 2010 Seattle is determined not to let Forsett be the feature back and I don't get why. He has the tools.
roroco 75 Posted October 5, 2010 For that price, he should've been a Packer. Except BUF is getting a high pick from SEA for their 4th rounder than GB. If the season ends like most are predicting, then it may have cost the Pack a 3rd rounder.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted October 5, 2010 Except BUF is getting a high pick from SEA for their 4th rounder than GB. If the season ends like most are predicting, then it may have cost the Pack a 3rd rounder. Still a no brainer for a 3rd rounder IMO. The conditional pick value is about the only thing making me yet to bash Thompson on this. If its a conditional that could turn into a 2nd...I can maybe see it. If anything less...bad move by Ted. And thats if this same type of offer was really available to the Packers.
Mullog 12 Posted October 5, 2010 I think that regardless of what that conditional pick turns out to be the Packers have got to be kicking themselves in the arse for not getting this guy. They are poised to make a serious super bowl run and the only thing they really lack on offense is a quality RB. There defense is another matter entirely (with the injuries sustained) but adding Lynch would have made their offense quite imposing.
phillybear 366 Posted October 5, 2010 So, now Seattle will not have a 3rd (Whitehurst deal) nor a 4th in next year's draft. Unless the Josh Wilson trade to Baltimore yields a 4th instead of a 5th based on conditions. I don't blame Carroll going out and geting Lynch to team with Forsett. Many teams now go with a committee approach. Maybe it's a power (Lynch) and finesse (Forsett) combo like LenWhale White and Reggie Bush were in USC. He's a talented guy desperate for a fresh start. Could work out nicely (like Leon Washington). If the offensive line ever gets healthy and plays one game in a row as a unit. Just one game. That's all I'm asking for right now. Julius, forget the CFL. That season is almost over. Beat it, retard.
RedzoneMonster 107 Posted October 5, 2010 A few more angles: 1. As a Rodgers owner this makes me happy. GB is going to have to continue to throw the ball like crazy with no run game. I wouldn't be shocked if he throws clsoe to 40 tds this yr now. 2. As a Lynch owner, this make me mildy happy. I could see him now being a low end #2 to a good #2 at best. Will probably split carries 70/30 with Forset and get GL work. 3. As a Forset owner this is TERRIBLE news. Probably droppable now. 4. One more thing - could GB have plans for Starks when he's off the PUP in WK 7? I would have said most likely not last week, but after passing on Lynch for a relatively low price make you wonder if they plan on throwing this kid right into the mix to see what they got. He's supposidly healthy now and he can't be worse than what they have on the field now, can he?...

If its a conditional that could turn into a 2nd...I can maybe see it. If anything less...bad move by Ted. And thats if this same type of offer was really available to the Packers. Agreed. The Bills might have been asking for more from the Packers because a 4th rounder from the Packers could end up being 20 spots lower than from the Seahawks. And we don't know what the conditional is yet.

Portis26 0 Posted October 5, 2010 Who has the most value now? Lynch, Spiller, Jackson or Forsett? Fred & Lynch are the winners IMO
idlewild 6 Posted October 5, 2010 As a Forsett owner and USC hater, I hope Seattle . While I do think Lynch is valuable (hint hint, Green Bay) I would have wanted the coaching staff to design more plays for Forsett who seems more than capable of carrying the load. I guess that's asking too much of Carroll. Seahawks suck. Forsett's 2010 numbers: 51 rushes for 215 yards: 4.2 YPC. 9 receptions for 66 yards: 16.5 YPR. el_duderino 0 Posted October 5, 2010 Pete Carroll is holding people accountable. Julius Jones was awful this is a great move for Seattle who takes care of business at home, has a scrappy defense and can content for that division (which is awful). Bump up Fred Jackson a bunch. CJ Spiller is not going to be featured. I think you see the horrid RBBC but since Fred was basically worthless up to this point he now has value suddenly. WiljenFC 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Any possibility that Seattle turns around and trades Washington now that they have Lynch in the mix?
HHerbs 0 Posted October 6, 2010 This sucks for Forsett owners. Very sad. That kid has the tools to be a game changer. Its too bad he doesn't play for a team like GB, SD, or IND. He would be great in fantasy. He would also kill it in a NO offensive scheme.
AintNoStoppinMeNow 68 Posted October 6, 2010 Fred Jackson was a stud the first few games of last season with Lynch out. Yes the Bills suck but they were bad last year too. I'd bump him up a lot. I was expecting either GB or Philly to get Lynch so when I heard Seattle I was like what?! But it makes sense, Lynch is a Pac 10 guy and still young enough and talented enough to be a good starting running back in the league. Also, I cant believe the Packers weren't all over this when I saw the details of the trade. Which leads me to ask, what do the Packers do now? They haven't been able to run the ball since Week 1 and are a legit Super Bowl contender. You have to think they make a move soon. But for who, one of the three Dallas RB's is my guess at this point. Anyone else care to throw out any possible alternatives for the Packers?
Lord4GL 4 Posted October 6, 2010 I have both Forsett and Lynch and I can't say this move helps at all. Guess I'll wait to see what happens out there. Wonder if Forsett ends up going elsewhere, as he doesn't seem to be liked by the coaching staff.

Take out his 32 yard run in week 1 (which is his longest run of the year, and he drops down to 50 rushes for 183 yards (3.6YPC). Re-do your math, and you'll find out that his YPR is actually only 7.3. I'm a Seattliete. Lived here all of my 32 years. I'm rooting for Justin Forsett, but he's not a feature back in the NFL. Sure, he's elusive and quick. He's a pretty good receiver, and actually protects well for his size in pass blocking. But he doesn't have elite vision or the breakaway speed needed to go along with it, even if he did. Justin Forsett is a perfect change-of-pace back and should excel as a 3rd down back. I hate to make the comparison, but Forsett is sorta like a better version of Maurice Morris.
buffalobillsffl2003 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Being that close to British Columbia, Lynch should go over 2,000 this season and run over a few more fat Canadian chicks.
Gepetto 1,368 Posted October 6, 2010 Published Tue Oct 5 10:13:00 p.m. CT 2010 (Rotoworld) The Green Bay Press-Gazette confirms that the Packers were "in on the bidding" for Marshawn Lynch. Analysis: GM Ted Thompson wasn't willing to go to a third-round pick. For all we know, he could have been offering a fourth, but the Bills figured Seattle's pick would be quite a bit higher in the same round. It's hard to fault Thompson for his staunch refusal to part with draft picks, but he's not exactly "gunning" for the title this year. Ha! No title for the Pack this year. Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted October 6, 2010 So the Predator is in Seattle huh? I snagged him off the WW but doubt he'll be start worthy except at home vs a cupcake of a team.
jgcrawfish 232 Posted October 6, 2010 As a guy who drafted Jackson late, this is outstanding news. I may even take a flyer on Julius just in case the Pack or someone else grab him. Lynch gets a chance to start again. Washington and Forsett owners can be happy, but the can't be all that happy with production so far anyway. From an NFL perspective, it's a good deal for both Seattle, who had a hole at the RB spot, and Buffalo, who if i heard correctly, got a 4th and a 6th that can turn into a 5th. Buffalo gets to put the very capable Jackson in as primary runner and get Spiller onto the field more in a Reggie Bush role since he's not 20 carry a game bell cow. Here's a random question for Seahawks fans: Do you miss those old uniforms? I think that of all the years to wear them, this would be the year. The league should be mandating that when we play our old AFC West foes, they have to wear the retro's.

Good question, I've always been mixed on the old vs. new uniforms. Actually, if we could take the new Hawk logo, slap it on the old silver helmets, bring back the old unis with silver pants and in the process completely do away with the neon slime green I think they would be perfect.
