CornKobb 48 Posted December 14, 2010 Tolbert has been a nice #2 rb this yr with 10 tds and nice yardage. will he still be a good play thursday night with the equal share of carries from last weeks game? Ryan Matthews started the game and had 16 carries which was the same as tolbert. It is the playoffs and I would hate to start the guy and him have reduced carries vs San Fran. Anyone backing off of tolbert or starting with confidence. Would love to hear your thoughts.
jedeye 0 Posted December 14, 2010 Watch for any reports about a setback for Mathews. If there arent any, I'd be leery of starting Tolbert. It is my belief that the Chargers want Mathews to be the man. Assuming no setbacks, I think Mathews wil see a larger share of the carries this week.
packerfan 0 Posted December 14, 2010 Reasons to not start Tolbert: He will lose some touches to Mathews, and even Sproles to a lesser extent. He typically does not play on 3rd downs. When he does play on 3rd downs, he is usually blocking. Reasons to start Tolbert: He gets all the goal line love. The Chargers do not trust Mathews in pass protection, have concerns about his ball security, and don't necessarily love him as a receiver as he dropped another pass last week. As long as the game is in doubt, Tolbert is on the field. In conclusion, if the game is a blowout, Mathews will undoubtedly see more touches than Tolbert. If the game remains close, as it should, Tolbert is the guy to play.
mont71 2 Posted December 14, 2010 how has SF done as a run defense this year? any notable back put up big numbers vs them? Tolbert looked pretty good this past week especially on that TD run. he looks fast and obviously carries a tone of momentum with that frame. would anyone start choice vs washington over tolbert? FFdemon 0 Posted December 14, 2010 Niners have been decent against the run (homer here). I don't think Tolbert will get more than 80 yds. Td's are hard to predict as you know. I wouldnt start Choice over Tolbert, although I may start F.Jones over him.
RaiderHaters Revenge 4,348 Posted December 15, 2010 ok so Big Mike has been my flex in both my leagues most of the year. how I am approaching it is this, in my league in my sig, I want consistent points, I am a heavy favorite so I just want solid contributers. I am happy with 60 total yards and a TD which is what I see for him in my other league I am a heavy dog, so I am gonna take a chance on someone else in my flex, right now its Torain, but I could also go with Goodson. Those guys could be boom or bust type guys.
Gepetto 1,367 Posted December 15, 2010 I'm planning on starting Mathews over Tolbert. Mathews has let me down all year and Tolbert has been great so this could be a dumb move. I can start 3 of Mathews, Torain, Tolbert, and Forte.
Pheagle 4 Posted December 15, 2010 SF is a top 10 run defense 9th Total yards (1301) 4th Yards per attempt (3.7) 9th Yards per game (100) Tied for 7th in TDs allowed (7)
mont71 2 Posted December 15, 2010 is willis going to play?
packerfan 0 Posted December 15, 2010 Something I noticed when the 49ers played the Packers a couple of weeks ago is that they wrapped up the Pack's smaller back, Brandon Jackson, pretty well. But when the big back (James Starks) was in the game, even though they knew the run was coming, they had trouble bringing him down. I have both and am going with Tolbert as my flex. I have bad early season memories of Mathews being in the game until the Chargers got inside the 5, where they would pull him for Tolbert to punch it in. FFdemon 0 Posted December 15, 2010 The niners play a big bruising back twice a year in SJax and do fairly decent against him. My decision is coming down to either Tolbert or Floyd in the flex. I think Floyd could go off but Tolbert getting the GL carries is the safer pick. I'm playing a weak team so I don't need a huge game just solid points. CornKobb 48 Posted December 15, 2010 I will probably kick myself but am slightly leaning towards felix jones in a ppr league vs Washington over Tolbert vs SanFran.
