bonkbonk 5 Posted March 23, 2012 So i really love this girl(34b, ex actress Her IMDb page)and would like to ask her to marry me. The ring i can get from my grandmother is worth 50g's. I also have a fairly large trust from my dead grandpa that i get when my grandmother dies. Shes 92, so it will happen at some point here. I know im a d!ck but if sh!t goes south with the girl after i marry her do i need a ring clause in a prenup to get it back. It was my great great grandmothers and i want it to stay in the family. And what would be her claims to my trust? I know if a bought a house and it was in our names it would be 50/50 but what about the cash part of it. Would she have claim to any of the trust money? Anyway thanks again for all the great help bit ches. OK, well as to the trust--usually stuff that you inherit is not considered part of the marital assets. BUT she could still get at it if you didn't have enough marital assets to make the divorce fair. For example, say you're married ten years and have a couple of kids, but you don't buy a house or anything like that. Then you get divorced and there basically isn't a whole lot of marital assets to split up. At that point a court might be able to reach your trust, although the law depends on what state you live in so I really can't tell you anything specific. Really you should consult a lawyer. As for the ring, I believe it is considered a gift when you give it to her. Legally I am pretty sure that she is entitled to keep it all for herself no matter what happens. Prenups require 2 attorneys, a single attorney cannot fairly serve both parties. Figure a Grand to get a basic prenup done, if its an easy one.
