Any one else lose a little respect for Jim Harbaugh and the Niners?

Recommended Posts

So you're allowed to hold and interfere as long as it's a difficult catch for the WR, but not if it's an easy catch?. I don't care if it would've taken a S. Holmes type of catch - Holmes made the catch! No matter how easy, how difficult, you can't keep a player from the opportunity to make that play.

Also, Crabtree tried pushing off because the DB was basically hugging him. Watch again, Crabtree isn't really physical until he's being blatantly held.

I thought this was interference in real time; Watching the replay on youtube, Smith clearly grabs him and impedes his route. Call it illegal contact, holding or pass interference. But it should be called.

Talking about the 49ers horrible start, poor clock management & play selection are all true - but in the end in came down to that play. Both brothers may be whiners (and they appear to be) but 32 teams (FANS) in the league complain if they lose in that fashion.

They let them play all game long. Why would they change they way they ref'd the game at the very end. If you let them play, let them play. If you want to call everything, then call everything. They didn't call the late hit on Flacco which would have set the Ravens up for another score earlier in the game. They didn't call that a hold late in the game. I'd prefer they let them play.

Quit whining

It was a debatable call at best, and fact is the Niners blew it with some terrible play-calling around the goal line.

And if you want to go back further, they blew it with an awful first half.

I wasn't rooting for either team. Just saying Niners fans are being total crybabies. You lost to a very dangerous team that hit its stride at the right moment and was playing the best ball it had all year. It happens. Give them the credit they are due and move on.

I'm not whining, bud.

Debateable call at best? Considering it's been one of the top storylines for the past 72 hours, I'd go ahead and cross "at best" out.

I don't care who played better in the first half, or who called the best plays. I'm simply arguing a call on a single play. Hell, I don't care if the play-call asked Kaepernick to run back into his endzone, hand the ball off to his RB, who then laterals to a WR, who then throws that pass to Crabtree. Illegal contact (holding, pass interference) is illegal contact (holding, pass interference) regardless of how terrible of a play-call the offense ran. That has no bearing as to whether or not the refs should have thrown the flag.

I'm not a 49ers fan, and I really didn't care who won the game.

This argument holds no merit what-so-ever considering the refs whistled SF for defensive pass-interference on the prior possession. It was a 3rd & 9 play and was a huge call. I think the call was correct, but there was as much, if not more contact on the Crabtree play in the endzone (no call) then there was on the 3rd & 9 play for the Ravens (pass interference).

The 3rd down pass was marginal -- NEVER going to get called in a SB

on 4th down -- not only did Crabtree deliver as much contact as he got the pass was uncatchable.

49er fans want to whine and cry when they got the biggest thing of all in their favor -- the blackout. Without that it's not even a game.

When Harbaugh & the 49ers win a superbowl, which will be in the near future, he can whine all he wants to as far as I'm concerned. If I lost respect for anyone in the NFL for whining probably be about 99% of players, coaches, management or whoever. In the heat of the biggest game of the year yeah guys might overemphasize their dislike of calls or no calls but it happens to all. Game's over, we lost, move on and focus on the 2013 season

I don't think you understood my point. I wasn't suggesting there was interference on the 49ers 3rd down play.

I was saying that on the prior possession, when the Ravens faced a 3rd and 9 on offense, the referees called P.I. on SF - and rightfully so. I think that play had about as much contact as the Crabtree play in the endzone yet the refs did not make the call. Someone argued "they were letting them play", which may be true, but they still blew the whistle against a defender committing P.I.

And again, Crabtree doesn't try and push off until he's being hugged by the DB. If you're being held in the endzone, are you supposed to just stand there and just hope that the referees call it?

Maybe I'm wrong, but the way I'd interpret those types of plays is whoever initiates the interference is at fault. In other words, if I bear-hug you, you have every right to try and escape that and go make a play on the ball.

I'm not arguing this because I'm bitter about my team losing. I root for the Broncos & Colts (Peyton Manning fan), and have literally no rooting interest in the 49ers or the Ravens. I'm just trying to argue against stupidity.

Look, if you don't think that amount of contact warrants a penalty on the defense, that's one thing (although then you should also have a problem with the 3rd down P.I. call on SF the series before). But the people who are arguing that the ball was uncatchable, or that refs should swallow their whistle during big plays, or that the 49ers didn't deserve that call because it was a bad play-call are just being down-right stupid. That's what I'm arguing.

I agree with everything in this post except maybe the ball being uncatchable. Kaepernick was under instant pressure so the throw was rushed and perhaps a little wild, but I wouldn't hang my hat on it being entirely uncatchable.

You're an idiot............

The black out happened 3 minutes into the 2nd half. No correlation between the comeback and the black out.

Well, I guess the comeback happened after the black out, but it didn't happen because of the black out. It happened because they got a couple stops, got a short field and made some plays. Come backs happen in the NFL. The guy made the comment that the game was over if the black out doesn't happen. That's just not true.

Jim Harbaugh is a whiny little doosh...

So you have that one element in common with him at least. You should be proud to share at least one characteristic with a former NFL player and successful coach........... :music_guitarred:

The refereeing was very poor, and i think one of the key moments was early in the game there was a scrum after the play and Williams (i believe) for the Ravens SHOVED a ref and received no flag for it. I think that set the tone that the players knew the game would be more rugby than football...

Crabtree took a CLEAR helmet to helmet defenseless shot inside the 5 at the end of the game that should have been 1-gl at the 2. They could have made any of 3-4 calls at the end of the game all of which would have put the 9ers in a hugely advantageous position. But it became clear these refs were just spectators at that point.

I think they should elect the best refereeing teams rather than individual elections...

All these points are valid. It is - unfortunately - how things go now in the biggest games.

And I'm not "rooting" for the 49ers here. I think they got a similar break against the Falcons.

I think NFL needs to make it a point of emphasis on offseason of making sure they make a call in last 2 minutes same as they would in first 2 minutes.

It is obvious they don't, and Harbaugh knows that just like he knew the benefit of tackling defenders on safety and like he knew he could get an on the field practice kick during a timeout. Credit to him, but as I said before I think the last 2 are bush league

exactly, without integrity of rules its just WWF soap opera style entertainment... Basically the stuff that has made the NBA obsolete and basically unwatchable.
