Andy Dalton love thread

Recommended Posts

All season long I have suffered with Andy Luck, so today I decided to change my Luck, errrrr, I mean my Andy.

31 points baby! 4 tds and over 300 yds.

Andy, I know you are hit or miss, but I'm glad you were a hit against one of the worst secondaries in the nfl today at home. Thank You, amigo.

Who else?

Well, admittedly he's riding the bench on my team in favor of Rivers but I only picked him up to force the Brees owner into rolling with Drew.

I'd much rather see those points on my bench than my opponent's starting lineup.

Andy/Opie, this  is for you.

I ditched his behind weeks ago.

You got lucky picking him on waivers and making a big one game bet. If you were so smart, you would have drafted him and kept him on your team all year. But then of course, you would have not made the playoffs.

i started him this week over russell wilson. very happy about dalton's high points but they won't overcome the low points of knowshon moreno and calvin johnson. today ends my 10 game winning streak.

My opponent had the same options & played Dalton over Luck. Since Russell Wilson/Megatron/Gio Bernard shat the bed, it really didn't matter.

As a Bengals fan, I enjoyed the aerial assault out of the Red Rifle.

The book on Dalton is he plays well against bad teams and not so well against good teams. I picked him up about 4 weeks ago specifically targeting week 16. I had a bye in week 14, so my job was easier- plan for weeks 15 and 16. I didn't like Luck in week 16 against the Chiefs so I picked up both Mccown and Dalton for weeks 15 and 16. As it turned out, cutler came back so there went my week 15 plan and any possibilities of using him for week 16. Thus, week 16 was all on Dalton. He came through for me, as I had planned and hoped.

I owned Dalton in two dynasty leagues. In one, I won my division and made the playoffs, only to lose because of ADP's injury that netted me 1 point. I lost by six.

The other league, I admittedly missed the playoffs, but that was because I started the wrong defense in the last week of the season. Ironically, had I made that choice correctly, I would have the won the championship, and not just the Leftovers Bracket.

Yeah, having Andy Dalton was my problem.

more like this seasons Flacco.

he will have good weeks and bad.  but more good than bad I think.

The line still needs to improve before that offense is going to have any level of consistency but Dalton can make it at least passable.  but there will be good and bad weeks.

What are the thoughts on Dalton rest of season - this year’s Baker Mayfield?

I’m not sure they want him to have that kind of success. Panthers already said this is supposed to be “a break” for Young, so they want to put him back in. I don’t see why, as he’ll never be a quality starting QB. Too small & a weak arm, IMO.  If Dalton plays well but they still switch back after a few games, they may have a mutiny in that locker room.

Bye week fill in at best.  I'd discount the raiders game a bit.

  1. Emotional letdown week for the raiders after beating the Ravens last week.
  2. Carolina was getting dragged all week adding to the complacency of vegas
  3. Dalton appears to be one of those guys that brings his A+ game when given a chance.  I don't know how many people here played sports, but some athletes, when they are playing on a new team or they finally get a chance to play, they play with a unique focus and are at the top of their game.  That quickly falls off and they revert back to their average game.
  4. Crosby was banged up
  5. The panthers still suck.

honestly, this is the most important point to consider.

the team is really not that good.  so sitting their young QB might actually be a good thing.  keeping him in there is likely going to ruin him as a QB prospect.

They really need to invest in the line.    It sounds like they made some fixes, but it does take time for a line to learn to play together effectively.    The first couple games were not great.  I never saw the Dalton game but I'm betting the line performed better in that particular game.   but keep in mind the opponent was weaker too.   That helps.

Different Tampa era.  More like Ryan Fitzpatrick circa 2018.

The Panthers aren't a good team.  They'll get a short burst of energy and hope, but overall, the team isn't that good and the coaching isn't there.

I loved Fitzmagic as a player.   but yeah I get it.

bottom line:  the QB play is limited by the talent on the team and the fact that the team as a whole is not very good.

even in a 2 QB superflex format, you do not start any offensive players against any top Defense.   Regardless of who is at QB
