Giants Fan 85 Posted August 23, 2014 Sigh. I'm at the casino for a tournament, and as I walk by a bank of slot machines I see one of them has credits in it. 6014 to be exact. I don't know how much that is, because I don't play slots. i look around and nobody is paying any attention to the machine. There is a card with a hispanic mans name on it, sitting on the machine. Something told me to print the ticket and see how much it was, and it printed a $60.14 ticket! So, I take the ticket and the card around the corner to the attendent desk, and nobody is there. I show it to a guy I know and he says that if the person comes back looking for it I could get in trouble. "But I'll cash it for you! That would be safer." He says. I decline, the poker tournament, with a $10k first prize is starting, I figure I will figure it out after the tournament. Well, security came up to me during the tournament and pulled me aside and explained to me that was theft. I immediately produced th uncashed ticket, and the club card and said I was going to turn them in, but did not have time, due to the tournament starting. They determined on the spot that "since the money was returned" there would be no charges filed and I would not be banned. Phew! Got to go back and play the tourney where I was mostly card dead. Eventually got it all in with AQ against AK and out. Not much else to report. So word to the wise .... if you find money in a casino, even a $20 bill on the floor, do not take it! They can charge you with theft.
WhiteWonder 2,171 Posted August 23, 2014 taking the mans card and voucher, which you printed from his machine =/= finding 20 dollars on the floor. why didn't you leave his card and voucher at the attendant desk? they could PA for the guy
Giants Fan 85 Posted August 23, 2014 First of all, it turns out it wasn't his money. It was someone elses money. That might have been what saved me, I think that when she returned to the machine, I went over there and she didn't seem to be throwing a fit, or fit the name on the card so I thought, that was not who left it there. If it's some little old lady, obviously I want to return it. They saw me on camera go to the desk, and then return to the machines with a friend, and look at the people playing and the name on the card. It was pretty obvious we were trying to find out who the money belonged to ... or at least I was. If it was some drunk dude who was like "fock it!" then I woulda been happy to keep it. Second, if I leave it there, someone could steal it.

Giants Fan 85 Posted August 23, 2014 You would think like that would be the number one thing anyone is ever told, entering a casino, "If you find money, or credits in a machine, don't touch it, you might get arrested!" But that would be bad for business.
Saint Elistan 106 Posted August 23, 2014 There is a dog track / casino less than 5 minutes from my house. There's one lady that goes around collecting everyone's loser dog tickets from the trash cans. She says she files them as her gambling losses with her taxes. She says she files them as her gambling losses with her taxes. There's also people called scrapers, or something like that ... that go through the losing ticket to find a winning ticket someone threw away. Also some people scan machines for leftover credits ... if you cover a lot of casinos, I guess you can make some money doing that these days instead of begging. Giants Fan 85 Posted August 23, 2014 Ok, so I went back there tonight and played for a couple hours. Apparently everything is cool. Hit quad sixes ... but could not get a call on the river. I was playing in a way that I felt I could best exploit my opponents. For instance I limped in with QQ one time. It worked out the flop was AK5 and someone went all in ... easy fold ... Cost me $2 to limp in with QQ. I felt though,'that making calls against my aggressive opponents that mostly had position on me, was really throwing them off ... after seeing me slow play quads. In one hand, I flopped a set of fours. Thought I was gonna take this guy ... spewey, raised pre. I just called him on the A 4 x flop and then on the turn he checked and said something. I was pretty sure I knew what he said, but I said, "What was that?" and he said, "I'm not going to do all your betting for you." So, OK, I bet $20. Trying to look like a bluff. He calls. River brick, I bet $50 and he folded. Ended up down $5 on the night. If I could have just stolen $5 from a slot machine ... i would be even.

Giants Fan 85 Posted August 23, 2014 Tricky, trappy mode, I call it. See, most of the time ... these chumps might as well be playing their cards face up. I know what they have, have them on a range. See, that's just like breathing ... It's not that I make precise calculations down to the micron ... it's expected value over time ... Not a new idea, google it. Sometimes, you gotta lose that money. Sometimes you gotta put your money in even when you think you will probably lose, if you understand the math. And that includes flopping the nut straight and slow playing it. It's a gamble. By slow playing it you (Like Chan against Sidel) , pull a risk that your opponent will somehow outdraw you ... it's really, really slim. It happens, but not often. Giants Fan 85 Posted August 23, 2014 Othertimes, when your opponent puts their chips in drawing dead, you wanna cash out and rub the cash on your tittays!
WhiteWonder 2,171 Posted August 23, 2014 Second, if I leave it there, someone could steal it. i didn't say leave it there, i said leave it with the courtesy desk. you'd be leaving it with a casino employee and they can track down the owner. the fact that you kept it after going to the desk shows you were hoping to keep it for yourself if nothing else came of it by the time your tournament was over. Im sure you could use the 60 bucks

The Moz 69 Posted August 23, 2014 Well i did get arrested at a casino a year or so ago. I was drunk ... I mean black out drunk. I won like 4K on the Poker slots hitting a Royal flush at the bar (the dollar machines) . Was with some friends and I just started ordering drinks of Patron Platinum and JW Blue for everyone - I guess I spent like a grand at the bar ( 5 dollar tip ) . So for some reason I don't even remember doing it I said i was staying and I wen to go play poker. I guess I was stumbling a little and was "accused" of saying a few racial slurrs (the nerve of some people - really) . Anyway I woke up in the Hammond Drunk tank. Fortunatley I still had like 2500 in my wallet so I just bailed myself out for 1K cost me a few K to have it taken off my record -- so I really broke even that night
Mookz 1,287 Posted August 24, 2014 So if you're playing slots in a crowded casino and want to take a break, you can just leave some credits on the machine to 'reserve' it and go do whatever the heck you want?

frank 2,144 Posted August 24, 2014 You can leave chips at a table. You shouldn't leave anything in a machine unless you have someone sitting next to you watching it for you.

WhiteWonder 2,171 Posted August 24, 2014 you printed the ticket, went to the courtesy desk but decided to keep the card and ticket while you played poker.... thats the part that sticks out like a sore thumb. you were obviously planning to keep the ticket and cash it later and post here about how you were up $60 . If you were genuinely trying to find the person, you would have left the casino card and voucher with staff.

Voltaire 4,555 Posted April 21, 2019 5 hours ago, slink said: So, that is a reason why I prefer to play offline. There are some best casino gambling websites which have really good reviews and 24/7 support. Highly recommend for people who prefer to play casino online. Maybe it's a good idea every so often to bump and old Giants Fan thread but not any of the ones with gambling because those are garbage. Unfortunately, that's what a gambling bot will do for you. Maybe a koi pond bot would be more welcome.
