robb Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I like the Gore and Miller running backs selections. Very good value and both are mostly 3-down backs with the jobs all to themselves. I wanted a WR here, but was also only going to take BPA. That happened to be Keeenan Allen, IMO. #1 WR on a team that will throw the ball a lot. Third year receiver who will recover from last year. I agree with you on the talent side of things, but in this case, I believe the "situation" he is in prevails. The QB situation is in flux, but it will not be as bad as what Rex worked with in New York. Talent will out, in general, and I'm very interested in seeing what they do up there this year. Quote

remote controller Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I intended to only take one of them, if available, when I went to bed. I figured ray would have to go RB. When I woke up, I backed off of the other direction I had considered taking with one of the picks, and hope I didn't mess up. I'm happy that Cooks is without Stills and Graham, and has a motivated QB. I was really surprised that Kelvin made it back. He will have to be my #1 TD wise and Cooks my #1 reception wise. When given lemons you have to make lemonade and that is kind of what the 12 spot is. I do differ from Ray though, because this draft is following ADP's to the "T".The guy I considered over Cooks was Andre. I feel Andre could have a 10+TD season. There are lots of mouths to feed there but he isn't done and I feel he might just outshine Hilton. I didn't have the guts. I feel Gore was solid at juncture also! Quote

RB- Mark Ingram, NOS 3.11 RB- Todd Gurly, STL 4.02 Often if I am drafting near the bottom of the serpentine, or "the turn" I feel faced with a unique approach to the draft. Simply put you can best focus on a WR-WR or a RB-RB, and when you do it boils down to simple math. If you decide RB-RB in rounds 1 and 2, and then WR-WR later, you look at the projected production for each potential grouping to decide a strategy. So if I think the combination of Bryant/Thomas with Ingram/Gurly is a better scoring potential than the available combos in reverse, or mixed, then I roll that way. The path of the draft in this instance delivered two high producing WR's that I felt would create an advantage over any alternative. Therefore, I think any resulting mix of RB-RB and WR-WR between other teams would perhaps likely not outscore my combination based on what I see so far. Then it boils down to achieving a QB-TE sequence that leverages best available, but more acutely finds that QB later who can out perform his draft spot, and also negate any TE disparity by waiting there as well. JScott Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 When I decided to go with Luck #1 overall instead of an RB, I knew the 4th/5th turn would then have to go RB/RB. I expected to get 2 of Yeldon (though a rookie as my #1 really scared me), Stewart, Ellington and 1 other RB. So ended up right where I expected. Yes, Stewart has the injury history but finally showed at the end of 2014 what he's capable of and there's really no one behind him on the depth chart to be utilized for a consistent split of carries. Risky, yes but he's the only RB in this tier with no real competition for carries. Ellington was great to start the season last year. He's healthy again so no reason for him not to pick up where he left off. And with a healthy (for now) QB it should help free up running lanes. So not too bad for waiting until my 4th and 5th picks to grab RBs. Quote

I have Randle in a few of my dynasty leagues and am happy to see how he pans out, but I was nervous that he'd be one of the RBs left for me to pick from at my 4/5 turn. It's risky enough waiting this long but the added risk of not knowing for sure if he's the starter had me worried about taking him but considering he's your 4th RB, well worth the risk for you. Quote
