MDC 7,407 Posted January 16, 2016 Ouch. We typically get $2-3k back, then immediately pay it in year end city wage tax for my wife's job. I bought a house in 2015, hopefully that helps.
IGotWorms 4,058 Posted January 17, 2016 Haven't done em yet but I'm sure we'll get focked. Owed 4K last year despite taking no deductions and actually paying in a bit extra per paycheck
frank 2,305 Posted January 17, 2016 The annual tax refund thread...... Soon people will be bragging about their refunds and others will be scolding them for giving the government an interest-free loan. The best result for most people is a small refund. I think I usually get around $1000 back.

Means you're so focking loaded you're above paying taxes like lowly wage earners
MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted January 17, 2016 I should get 4-5k back. My wife and I were paying in pretty heavily to start the year, but then she took the second half of the year off and I had to take 10 days off with no pay.
Frozenbeernuts 2,263 Posted January 17, 2016 I am the person who gets big returns. I have gotten 13k and 11k back the past 2 years. Yes it is an interest free loan, but the money always comes in at a good time it seems. Plus, im not going to get much as far as interest myself.

Frozenbeernuts 2,263 Posted January 17, 2016 My 401k returned -2.5%. I am glad I loaned the government money at 0%. Yeah mine was down about the same. We have a guaranteed fund which i have my money stashed in now. This oil issue is going to have a pretty big impact on the economy imo. Id rather play it safe right now. I've really been debating this, but I've focked up doing this before and missed a really big upswing. Fock it... lets ride the lightnin man... see where it takes us. If it crashes I have about a decade for it to right itself... buying every month all the while.
BLS 314 Posted January 18, 2016 Welp... for the first time evah, looks like we're paying in. -$1300 Fed, $300 State... for a -$1K Net... Seriously? That's nothing. Actually, it's almost perfect. Owe just a little bit is better than a refund.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted January 18, 2016 Considering I paid over $50k in taxes, I am hoping that I am getting some back (not likely).
penultimatestraw 473 Posted January 18, 2016 If you're that short, they start doing it for you That's news to me - are you serious? Why should it matter if we pay it by tax day? It seems to me if it is stupid to give the government an interest-free loan, the longer you delay paying your taxes, the better.

I am going to wait until oil news gets better before i jump back in, if i even do. I may actually wait until i put money into stocks through a financial firm. They will advise you on 401k if you have money invested through them.
