to fill the time from now until opening day since this was the fastest draft process I can recall.

Welsir, looks like the O's have signed Pedro Alvarez, and another mediocre exclusive has fallen into my lap. <_< What if this had been a guy who was likely to be drafted in the supplemental? Could I have scooped him up in an add/drop on Yahoo and taken him out of the pool, or are transactions like that forbidden during the draft?

I would guess that you could have changed one of your regular draft picks to protect your new exclusive from the supplemental.

I was wondering what would have happened when Ian Desmond signed with Texas during the draft if I was playing this year with the Nationals...

I think no because those rounds are considered done. If we had been in the middle of the regular draft, you are allowed to adjust exclusives but once the first 26 rounds are done and we begin the supplemental, everything is locked in. That's why we remind people to protect anyone they feel could be stolen

In post's example that's happened. A guy like Desmond was an exclusive but that team would have to change where he drafted the player. Hopefully for them they would have a pick still before Texas did otherwise they could potentially lose that player if we were say in round 8. Posty could change Desmond from round 20 to 8 add long as he had his 8 or 9 before Mora had his pick next. He could not however change his already forward moving pick.

Bring that Alvarez is an exclusive Mookz should still be able to drop an exclusive now that he's gained one in one of those rounds. And the fact that the reg draft is "done" shouldn't change the fact that that player hadn't yet been drafted to any team.

Totally agree here. Once the supp is started, rounds should be locked.

I tried

i would have given up boxberger to move up to 28.1 and im assuming you would have snagged bumgarner 27.14 and it would have then been a pointless trade up. so while it sucks losing boxberger, ill live without him for 2 months and hope that rodney does well enough closing in san diego to hold me over. :dunno:
