Mike Webb, who is running as an independent after losing the Republican primary in the 8th District in eastern Virginia, posted an attack against his opponent on Facebook on Monday afternoon. The self-described conservative with a libertarian streak included a screenshot from a web browser, and forgot to close all the tabs.

 

CBS affiliate WTKR-TV reports pages with the titles "Ivone Sexy Amateur" and "Layla Rivera Tight" were both open, along with an AT&T bill pay page. While it's not exactly clear what was displayed on those pages, both search terms call up results for two porn stars, the station reports.

Webb: I Was Testing Porn Sites for Viruses

 

In an email to ARLnow.com, which he also posted to Facebook, Webb claims that he was testing the whether such sites could have been the source of the alleged “cyber attack” that prevented him from filing a report to the Federal Election Commission on time.

 

“Curious by nature, I wanted to test the suggestion that somehow, lurking out in the pornographic world there is some evil operator waiting for the one in a gazillion chance that a candidate for federal office would go to that particular website and thereby be infected with a virus that would cause his or her FEC data file to crash the FECfile application each time that it was loaded on the day of the filing deadline, as well as impact other critical campaign systems,” Webb said in a characteristically lengthy message that also included accusations of malfeasance against some critics and local Republican party members.

“What happened is actually kind of interesting. I initially got hit with a cyber-attack on my FEC data file and there was a lot of I guess speculation in terms of where we got it,” Webb told WUSA9. “We took it to Best Buy and we found out we had 400 viruses on the computer.”

 

Webb said those Best Buy technicians blamed his many viruses on his visits to porn websites, but Webb disagreed, saying he never visited them. To prove his theory, he said he visited those porn pages as a test to prove they were not the reason he was getting viruses.
