IR Roster Spot

Recommended Posts

My league is 1 QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1WR/RB, 1WR/RB/TE, 1 TE, 1K and 6 bench spots. What are y'all's thoughts on adding an IR bench position? We are a 2 keeper league and after last year's Jordy/Kelvin/Keenan/etc. injuries there is debate on adding the IR. Anyone else have this?

I'm not in any keeper leagues , so non of the redraft leagues I'm in use them .

But I see the value in them in a keep league , so I would do it .

I like to keep IR spots limited. No more than 2 in a league with small rosters, like 16 or 17 spots total. In leagues with larger rosters, like 20 or more I don't like having IR at all. I have seen several cases of IR getting abused, people not taking players off IR when they get healthy, using IR to pick up injured FAs. I've seen IR spots cause major league drama on more than one occasion. It's better when it's used as little as possible.

I know this is late, but I am in a keeper league that has IR spots. We are aloud 2 spots and the player has to actually be on the NFL IR. It has worked out well for us especially if you draft a guy late and he turns out to be a good player you keep for multiple years, but happens to get hurt. You don't have to keep him on your active roster wasting a valuable spot and you don't have to drop him and maybe take the chance of not being able to draft him next year or having to draft him at a lower position
