I believe you can download a free trial copy of Excel but it's been awhile since I've investigated this and I don't know if Microsoft is still making a trial version available. Just doing a quick search, I would investigate this page - as it looks like you might be able to download Office Pro 2013 (which contains Excel 2013) and use it for free for 60 days. Not sure though...

Nice find if true. The current version is a ~$10/month subscription that I believe you can cancel any time, but check the fine print and the newer version IMHO is not as good as the older ones (2013 for example). Especially on a Mac. Very slow, some issues with it.
