When I drank a lot or so I thought it was roughly 18-20 beers on fri and again on saturday. Or say 12-14 and several shots if I was out at a bar with my friends. So basically 20 drinks in any fashion. Then maybe 12 on sunday to shake myself straight and not lay around all day sunday. Then maybe a 6 pack or less after work or after classes monday thru thursday. But even then I would still take 1 or 2 days off a week depending.

I am a terrible insomniac. Bur for me anyway booze many times makes it worse. If I put on a nice buzz I cant get to sleep. Sure if I black myself out I will pass out. But then I will wake up at like 6am and not be able to go back asleep.

 

Ive tried the Ambien and that stuff is bad. Started out working but Id feel drowsy a bit for half a day after. Then like anything else built a tolerance. Soon i was chewing off a bit of an extra pill to put me away. Then half. Then take 2. I had some weird ass visions one night and tossed the rest of my bottle on the toilet.

 

Weed keeps me up even the heavy indicas.

What kind of visions?

I took too much to where I didnt get sleepy or at least I didnt feel that way. I felt zoned out. Long story short I have a half brother I have never met and I was talking to his adopted mom on facebook at 6am after somwhat avoiding her a bit. But all of a sudden was waist deep in conversation with her. I was sitting on the floor with my laptop. And in a way saw this person next to me sitting but didnt have a care in the world as I typed. I just sort of was fine with the fact that someone was sitting beside me and I wasnt frightened or interested about it. Hard to explain how it felt.

 

I'd of chalked it up to a dream but I saw the conversations the next day. I thought I had contacted this lady and said a little bit but I had a full on conversation with her from 6am for an hour going back and forth.

Do you wake up hungover every day? How do you get to work and function? Do you feel like ass every day of the week?

 

Does your wife / family give you any grief over your drinking? How can you possibly be a good father to your kids when you're ripped all the time?

So 30 for 2. 8 beers if you are going cheap beers is like 7 bucks x 7 49. So roughly 80 bucks to get hammed all week long.

 

The bar does kill you though. I have a buddy who started out as a teachers aid/computer teacher who obviously made dlck. He would go to the local hole in the wall bar thursday sat sun. He would drop 60 bucks routinely on 3 dollar miller lites and he would play the juke box when he got drunk and drop another 20 for no reason in there. So 240 a week on really no fun what so ever seeing the same people each week sit around talking about nothing....when his check was maybe 500 a week net. Probably at most. He pretty much kept up on his bills some how. No kids no car payment.

I asked about the $ because I probably spend $300-$400 on boozer per month but that's for me and my wife and we are clearly drinking less together than shotsup by himself.

 

My big reasons for not drinking more are that I just can't handle it while also being productive at work. And now that I'm a dad I don't ever really drink so much that I wouldn't be able to handle an emergency.
