Unsecured borders.

I traveled to Tijuana when I was a kid with my parents and the border was a massive fortress. I assumed the entire border was like that, and it wasn't until I was older that I learned the reality.

That it wouldn't be feasible or effective for the entire border to be a fortress?

Lack of term limits

This is what got me. Congress has no term limits which is asinine. Also the fact that you get elected to the senate, House of Representatives, president, etc. you get paid for the rest of your life even if you only serve 1 term and it's six figures for the rest of your life. I think we could be allocate that money elsewhere

This, by Design doesn't actually happen. The key term here is tax refund. You can't get a refund of taxes unless you've actually paid taxes into the system during the year.

There's plenty of effed-up s*** in the government without making things up.

When incumbent President's face situations that are "good for country" vs "good for re-election", which way do you think they go?

Make it one 6-year term and end the conflict of interest.

Ethanol subsidies. Using government money to turn food into an inferior, more costly fuel than straight gasoline while raising the price of both food and fuel. Not to mention destroying old two stroke engines in the process.

Welfare system. One party wants voters, the other wants to punish them. What we end up with is a system designed to punish anyone trying to leave it.

Military / industrial system. We spend millions to fund a system that competes for billions to equip a military that would be the most expensive in the world if we halved the cost. Any military contract is immediately held up by lawsuits from the winning companies competitors, costing time, money, and ultimately lives. Many minor items would be better and far cheaper if bought off the shelf.

Corporate welfare. Those complaining about hundreds going to the poor tend to ignore thousands going to corporations.

Political sabotage. We see it all the time, riders added to a bill that would pass in order to kill it, for political gain. How many times have you heard a politician declare their opponent voted for / against a certain bill, to discredit them? Pretty much every election.

Lobbyists. It used to be bribery was illegal, now it's used to make laws instead.

How 90% of Liberals always agree no matter what the topic it is.

How 93% of Conservatives always agree no matter what the topic is.

It's like independent thought is dead in this country.

Like everything else in your life, this notion is completely false.

All of this makes SENSE... that those in power would enact laws and configure the system in their benefit...

Lobbyists/special interests groups

Said it 1000x. Lobbyists are absolutely essential in Washington. They provide intelligence to every lawmaker every day. I am fine with a ban on former politicians working as lobbyists. There are many laws which would absolutely cripple an industry, that most lawmakers have no idea. Lobbyists are just specialists in a particular industry.

Lobbyist, "just so you know, if you pass that law, the trickle down effect is every ball bearing factory in the US would have to shut down tomorrow."

Funny how you never seem to hear those making serious coin gripe about 'the rich getting their tax rate lowered'.

What do you guys consider 'the rich'?

Able to afford life's basic necessities, save for a decent retirement and have enough leisure time to spend with friends and family while of able mind and body. In most areas, 75-100K annual salary is enough.
