Mayonnaise on your steak prior to grilling

Recommended Posts

Now stay with me here. I have never done it but it sounds intriguing. Add you favorite steak rub or even just salt and pepper to the mayo and marinate your steak. Toss on the grill, mayo is 95 fat and fat equals flavor.

Anyone ever try this? I've used mayo to make grilled cheese and it works better than butter. I'm gonna have to give this one a shot.

Makes sense. I make grilled cheese with mayo instead of butter and it is 5x better.

When used for grilled cheese, you don't taste it. Would imagine same for steaks.

Sounds like something a certain group would come up with.

What's really good is to mix kethchup and mayonaise together and dip your steak in it after you cook it.

Deeeelish.

Yeah, aiolis are fine - as long as they're not too big.

I mean, quarter size is perfect. 50 cent is about as big as I like 'em.

Once you get to them pancake sized aiolis, biitches look like they escaped from National Geographic.

Sounds disgusting.

I put a light amount of Mayo on some times of cold sandwiches, but that is it. Not a big Mayo fan

Agreed, hate mayo

Same. And Ranch, even though they are the same base ingredients.

Are you a supertaster? I'm pretty sure I am, and there are certain foods (I believe mayo is one) which us supertasters tend to not like. Black coffee is another. I do like fatty foods though. Also about 25% of the population is considered in the supertaster range so it isn't a rare thing.

Interesting you cats should be talking about supertasters.

You might remember my violent, vitriolic, guttural response to the taste of cilantro.

turns out, there's a scientific basis for that.

Certain palettes sense certain aspects of Cilantro's flavor profile differently.

For example, some taste the bright notes, others think it tastes like soap, others

like me, taste the bitter, vile aspects of it (forget what that's called).

It is indeed one of the more divisive tastes across the globe.

Would be an interesting article to google.

Yes this! Mayo works really great for grilled cheese.

BBQ and mayo is better imo

Doesn't sound like an appetizing food marriage, but I'd try it... Big Bob Gibson's is famous for their white sauce, they dip their smoked chicken in it. It's heavily mayo based, so maybe.
