I just said it's possible. I have a few people wanting to put in a lot of money to go for the ride. I just am too dumb to fully understand the stuff. Mining for codes and shlt just isn't my forte'. It also seems VERY easy to manipulate the demand when major investors can jump from one cryptocurrency to another so easily.

I've yet to wrap my head around the details. I think I get the concept, but to me the COMPANY Ethereum should be what I invest in. Not the actual product. I don't buy 500 tons of head and shoulders shampoo because I want to invest in Proctor and Gamble.

When someone buys a bond what are they investing in?

Essentially what you are asking for (and it will never happen) is a company that deals with currency/crypto currency to be a public company so you can invest? Do you see how that could become a conflict of interest?

You guys caught me, I get a 1% cut. At the rate you guys are investing I'll be able to get a car out of the car vending machine next week.

:shocking:

Creditworthiness of the bond holder to pay back the principal with interest.

What am I investing in with Ethereum? Bitcoin? Antshares? Game Credits?

I'm not saying 90s is but there are obviously paid pumpers and bashers out there. My favorite part of investing is reading the articles pUT out by WSJ (paid hacks), the street, investopedia, motley stool, etc. It's blatantly obvious what positons they have or which stock is paying them off.

One of them just came out with a piece on why Intel is going to strike back at AMD

CCs and bonds are not a fair comparison. Your bond is not going to go to 0. Your cryptocurrency very well may go to zero. Also no comparison to gold or silver because those will also never go to zero and if you invest in physical, you'll have the tangible asset.

Fiat currencies are the closest comparison but even then, most fiat currencies are established enough and can be held phyically. Crypto currencies are still in an infancy stage and hackings, terrorist dealings etc cpull possibly wipe out this new phenomenon.

Not saying that would happen or that I don't believe in bitcoin Ethereum etc but there are definitely risk factors

A. This thread evolved into a crypto-currency thread. Originally I was posting about Carvana. (Which was at 11 when I posted and is now at 19 in just 2-3 weeks)

B. This is the last place I would go if I was trying to actual get sales. Was just trying spread the knowledge.

Crypto-currencies are just the next boom many will write them off and early investors like myself will win big later. Get in now or forever regret it.

I really appreciate the information. I am trying to learn.

One thing, I am assuming by now you are a multimillionaire. Everything you recommend has doubled many times over.

$100 of bitcoin in 2010 is worth $75 million today

Great job. I'm jealous.

I assumed that 100%. Him being in SEO does make me scratch my head. After all, every Geek is a multimillionaire and hung like John Holmes and married to a full on 10!

Unfortunately I didn't have skin in the game until 2013.

I'm just honestly trying to open this door for you guys. I know it's new and the first of its kind. Ive made money on the knowledge that was passed on to me and I want to pass it on to everyone here. Hopefully it pays off for some.

Let me know if you go do the Bitcoin IRA. I'm intrigued now.

I bought $20k in WLL (Whiting Oil) today at 5.21. Wish me luck.

Oil will come back.

I'm aware Whiting could go lower yet...but one thing I've learned...if you "try" to wait for it to hit "bottom" (or top) you are likely left sitting on the outside.

Oh no doubt. They also dont want average Joe selling high and buying low. Big players are buying these dips that you conveniently cant. That's the problem with not being able to invest in literal CC via a major exchange. Youre relying on a site called coinbase that can conveniently be down at any time. Who regulates coinbase?

Again I'm not knocking CCs. Just playing devis advocate here.

Also has anyone sold a CC for a profit? Does coinbase report your profits or losses to the IRS? Do they send you a 1099B? Is it like going to the casino and you're supposed to scouts honor report your gains? Just curious

Hats off to 90's for putting it out there. Takes balls. It's been interesting reading you guys discuss this. Wish I had more balls, but I've been bitten before. You guys will probably all score big time while I'm playing patty cake with Newbie in another thread. Good luck!

Me too. I got swindled by a pump and dump back in the early 2000s. Now I'm chicken and my wife is terrified. So I'll be a working stiff forever

I've sold numbers times, it just deposits into your USD wallet and then the transfer to your US bank account takes 3-4 days typically. Never had an issue.

I prefer confident 90sbaby. :(

I wish we could've caught it.

I don't think CC's are a scam at all and are only going to become more ingrained into our daily life. To me this is in like investing in computers in the 70s/80s many said they were just a phase. :dunno:

BTC and ETH are mired, but it look like LTC juss tryna come up. I got in at $30 and it's now $46. (Only 15 coins, though <_<)

Hold, hold, hold?

Yep...that's what I'm hoping for. Gas prices to rise. Well, technically for oil prices to go up, but that will likely mean gas goes up.

I bought $30k of this stock about 8 months ago or so. I got in at $6.40.

It got up to over $13 a few months later. Didn't sell. In hindsight, I should have had a number in mind and sold. Heck, $12.80 woulda been a nice gain ($30k)

Yesterday fell to 5.13. I bought at 5.21. I averaged down my overall price.

This stock was at $90 no too long ago. That's why I didn't sell when it was in the $13 range.

No idea what I'll sell at now. Im averaged in at $5.95. (approx 8400 shares)

That wasn't really my question. When I sell an investment I can then transfer the funds, once the sale clears, to my linked bank account but capital one sends me my 1099 at for tax purposes to report any capital gains or losses.

So my question was more about how are CC profits reported or tracked? Does the government not want their cut on your investment gains? Or like I mentioned is this viewed more like going to the casino where if you make 300 dollars everytime you go and wind up with a 3k gambling profit for the year, you're supposed to claim that but who really does?

My transaction apparently didn't go through for ETH. It showed i had put in the order at $308. Coinbase said they were experiencing issues, and I haven't heard from them.

Pro Tip: Deposit the money into your USD wallet within Coinbase and that way when you are ready to buy it transfers instantly.
