Baker Boy 1,446 Posted December 4, 2017 2014, year prior to Freddy Grey and the riots 211 murders. 322 so far this year. Good job, good effort. They are perfectly OK with this. This is similar to the situation where the older brother who picks on and beats up his younger brother regularly will defend him from anyone who tries to do the same thing. They don’t care about the people dying, they only care if an outsider is doing the killing

avoiding injuries 1,218 Posted December 4, 2017 Murders used to be in places that I could easily avoid. Really couldn't tell you how to get to the severely dangerous places, just what streets not to cross over. Now, they're happening everywhere. You still need to stay away from certain parts, but you also have to be gone/in before 9.

Cdub100 3,337 Posted December 4, 2017 Carcetti's decision to reject the governor's bailout leaves him with intractable budget problems. He is forced to cut spending in other areas in order to plug the schools' budget deficit and is unable to keep his promises to reform the BPD. Despite the problems facing the city, Carcetti remains focused on running for governor two years into his term. Carcetti meets with Burrell and Rawls to discuss the BPD's problems, becoming concerned with crime statistics despite his prior decision to discourage stat-based policing. Morale in the BPD is at a low because Carcetti is withholding payment of overtime.

Hardcore troubadour 12,407 Posted December 4, 2017 No stop and frisk right? Wonder why crime shot up? Cops gave the people and the Baltimore politicians exactly what they wanted. You would think the liberals would realize their errors, but then they wouldn't have their favorite scapegoat. And then it would be someone else's fault. Hmmmm, I wonder who? titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted December 4, 2017 Same thing has been happening in my hometown of Memphis. There was always bad crime. But it was over there, in the designated war zone. Now, seems like every time I go home, theres a cop killed in a traffic stop, or a woman jogging near her home in a good area killed. That last one happened a couple miles from my sisters house. Woman was shot and killed less than a hundred yards from her door by some teenagers just cruising around being thugs. Lots of burglaries. My parents are looking at places to move once the grandkids are out of high school. Thinking Charlotte I think.

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted December 4, 2017 Why do you the think it's like that now? What do the locals say? Are they demanding something be done?Part of the problem, from what Im told, is a glut of cheap housing. The suburb hinterland, back when I lived there twenty years ago, was nice enough. But it got vastly overbuilt. All those mass produced $300,000 homes are now older ratty $200,000 homes, and many of them are rentals. So lets just say, a new demographic or two came out to the east side. Its always been like that though. Memphis is a case study in white flight. You can tell how old a white person is by asking what mall they went to as a kid. Every few years, they build one farther east as the last one falls to the horde. Its spread so far now the next hop is across county or state lines. Which is going to decimate the county tax base like the city one was decades ago. Basically its a sh!thole full of lowlifes with an ever shrinking fringe of normal. If fedex hadnt built the hub there years ago, it would be all gone. Of course, nothing will ever be done. Because the people who give a sh!t dont live in the city and dont pay tax there. They have the county government. The city government is the asylum run by inmates. The constantly talk about hiring more cops. Cant seem to find qualified black candidates though.
