edjr 6,890 Posted January 10, 2018 Went with Shawshank. The others are really good but that seems to be the only one every time it's on I'll tune in for a while. Seen it once, about 6 years ago. easily the last on that list for me. I made the list and I honestly can't pick. For rewatchability it has to be Goodefellas, but that doesn't mean it's my favorite.
Reality 3,121 Posted January 10, 2018 Braveheart is my all-time favorite so I had to pick that one. The rest are right in my wheelhouse though, if they are on, I'm watching. Others include Gladiator, Casino, & Man on Fire. Well, I have to include comedies, if these are on I'm watching it, Office Space, Grandma's Boy, SuperBad..

posty 2,807 Posted January 10, 2018 You're so full of sh1t Why is that? I am not into movies that much...
dain11279 980 Posted January 10, 2018 And damn, tough list. I honestly can't decide between Shawshank and Goodfellas. Probably my 2 favorite movies evah. I could watch either one at any time
dain11279 980 Posted January 10, 2018 Why is that? I am not into movies that much... Personally I think you're saying it to just to say it. But if by the off-chance it's true, you're definitely missing out. It makes me weep that you've only seen one of them. Sad.
wiffleball 4,797 Posted January 10, 2018 Went with BraveHeart. That's an epic. The rest are movies I'll be a good ones. But we've seen variations on everything else in multiple movies before. 2000 World War 2 movies 900 prison movies Etc Besides, when the king throws that fairy War counselor at the window is still one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever. Totally unexpected and freakin hysterical.

It makes me weep that you've only seen one of them. Sad. I have zero interest in The Godfather and Goodfellas (not into mobster genre)... I also have had zero interest in seeing a Mel Gibson movie, so Braveheart isn't that important either...

cbfalcon 827 Posted January 10, 2018 Good poll. I understand the association. I only saw Braveheart once, and never quite put it in the same tier as the others, so it's out..........I'd likely argue that Private Ryan and Shawshank are the BEST overall films, but a large chunk of their quality comes from forcing one to imagine going through some very miserable circumstances. In other words, they aren't a ton of fun...........But mafia films on the other hand. Sure it always goes bad but there sure is a ton of fun on the way. So for me, it comes down to the mafia movies. When I was younger and all the way through my 20s, no doubt I considered Goodfellas the best. And no doubt The Godfather was by far the lamest of all 5. I probably told my parents 20+ times that The Godfather was just the slow old persons version of Goodfellas......But in recent years, I've found myself much more sucked in by the slow old person movie than I am by any of the others on the list. Now it seems that the scenes I enjoy the most are the subtle ones that I'd have previously wanted to skip. So I voted for The Godfather as my favorite, even though I'd have put it dead last 5 years ago.
