peenie 1,690 Posted December 5, 2018 Van Halen with David Lee Roth.......can't think of the name of the song but everytime I hear it, I think, "This is so damn good, too good for the rest of the song which isn't as great."
peenie 1,690 Posted December 5, 2018 Found the Van Halen song with the great intro but the rest of the song is meh. They didn't need to remake it. I prefer the original. They should have made a kick ass song to go with that badass intro:

They should have made a kick ass song to go with that badass intro: Eruption is technically not an intro. Its just a stand alone guitar solo. You Really Got Me is the song that immediately follows it on the record, so theyre often played together. You Really Got Me is also a cover of the Kinks original. Yeah, I knew the song was a remake but didn't know it was the Kinks. So Eruption is a stand alone that they just added to the other song? Is there more to Eruption? I'll go look. Is there more to Eruption? I'll go look. Eruption is Eddie Van Halen doing a guitar solo with Alex on the drums. On the record, there's very little pause between the ending of that solo and the beginning of You Really Got Me, so radio stations often played the two songs together. There are a few other rock songs like that. Queen's We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions is one that comes to mind. Eddie has done some expanded versions of Eruption in concert, but the original is what everyone knows best.

Check out Eddie's guitar solo from Live Without a Net. 30 years later and still one of the best guitar solos (and players) of all time. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=van+halen+live+without+a+net+guitar+solo&view=detail&mid=B0AA2E95ABF8DEDD842CB0AA2E95ABF8DEDD842C&FORM=VIRE
