It is not 5 billion dollars, that is only to get the project started, the project was estimated at 26 billion and i also provided a link that showed that most government estimates are low. 50 billion is a much more realistic number for the wall.

 

The time to invest in a wall would have been early 2000's when immigrants were streaming over the Mexican border, now that it has dropped and is continuing to drop there are better uses of that money.

There are still 100,000 illegal immigrants a year coming over the Mexican border, but while it may not be as effective it would be much cheaper to go after sanctuary cities and employers. Please note, while I did post some facts I also posted opinions above. While I think my opinions are correct I do respect other peoples opinions. I understand that some people think that building a partial wall at 5 billion or a complete wall at 50 billion is a valid investment for the country to make. Who knows what the immigration will be 20, 30, years from now and down the road there may be circumstances that dictate that we wish we would have built the wall.

 

I do stand by my opinion that the country risks serious issues if we continue to let the budget get out of hand, and 50 billion here, 50 billion there and pretty soon you are talking about real money.

Years back when I was waiting tables and bartending I new tons of illegal Mexicans who were living in cheap apartments with like six of them living together in one apartment. They all had a few things in common. They were illegal, they were always paid in cash, bought and drank of lot of cheap beer, always ate their meals for free in the kitchens at the restaurants, work two jobs, and sent the bulk of what they made back to their families in Mexico. Then they would take long vacations back at home with their families and someone else they lived with or other illegal friends would fill in for them while they were gone.. It was all pretty accepted at the time. I don't know how restaurants roll these days, but I'm guessing it's still going on.

 

There is a lot of money going back to Mexico that is not being spent here.
