Farmers love Trump

Recommended Posts

Hard times for farmers got tougher with President Donald Trump’s trade war. Now Midwestern farmers are filing the highest number of bankruptcies in a decade, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of federal data.

And farmers aren’t hopeful about this year.

Twice as many farmers in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin declared bankruptcy last year compared to 2008, according to statistics from the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Journal reported. Bankruptcies in states from North Dakota to Arkansas leaped 96 percent, according to figures from the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Farmers are being battered by sinking commodity prices — and stiff tariffs from China and Mexico in retaliation for Trump’s tariffs on imports.

The new 11-nation Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) treaty last year slashed tariffs — but not for U.S. farmers since the Trump administration pulled out of negotiations. That drove customers to farmers and ranchers in competitive countries, like Australia, serving another dunning blow to American operations.

Farmers fear it will take years to rebuild those trading relationships.

According to figures from the U.S. Agriculture Department, farm income last year was about 50 percent of what it was in 2013, the Wisconsin State Farmer reported.

Remember on the campaign trail that Trump specifically embraced farmers and coal workers? More coal mines shut down in the first two years of Trumps presidency than during the entire Obama era. Now his brilliant policies are taking aim at America's farmers.

He should have promised to be besties with Hollywood.

Farmers would still rather have Trump than some multigendered multiracial multisexual communist.

I know you have impeccable credibility with your sources (Yahoo, HuffPo, Slate, Roots, etc) but I am going to need to see a further breakdown of why the farmers had a rough year. (Corporate farms have been decimating family farms for the last decade +)

Also, anyone who defends TPP is a focking clown.

I did speak with some pecan farmers recently and they were not happy about the price of pecans being cut in half due to Chinese tariffs. They basically worked all year and made nothing. As farmers they are used to this as it happens every so many years, farming is a cyclical business, so they are not screaming at the sky like those TSA employees who missed 1 paycheck.

And not a single one of them would vote for whatever freak show the Dems end up running.

Because, hey, why sell soybeans to China when instead we can borrow from China to pay farmers not to sell soybeans to China?

Reading is fundamental. How about the Wall Street journal there Skippy? It's actually in the post. Not exactly a liberal hotbed. LOL

the worst part is? All those horrible numbers and bankruptcies? That's after Trump through 12 billion dollars of taxpayer money at them not to farm. Can you imagine how bad it would be without such socialist measures?

I guess the farmers will REALLY love the Dems' New Green Deal of getting rid of all the cows and internal combustion engines.

All they need to do is declare themselves unwilling to work and our new socialist government will take care of them.

Well, that is until the shortages and famine kick in.  Then it's only party elite who will be taken care of.

I work with many farmers.  They mostly grow corn and soybeans.  The tariffs have been tough on them. That said, they all agree with them.  The Chinese are unscrupulous.  They offer X, they soybeans are shipped and they pay Y.  They take shipment of the beans and claim they are bad, and don't pay at all.  They claim the weight is lower and pay on that.

Wiff is right for once, farmers do love Trump.

Some people tried talking to me about how the tariffs are hurting this industry or that. I haven't paid attention to the exact impact and whether it was the right move or not, but when things like this need to happen to cause a change for the better of the long term, it's going to hurt people in the short term.

I can't stand the argument that the tariffs are hurting this one small group of people, therefore we shouldn't have gone through with it. No numbers to back it up (wiff I'm not saying you aren't backing up your claim). Change can suck in the short term, but if we used short term as the measuring stick, shlt would never change. Our relationship with China needs to change.

Since the gerbil In the search indexing is working overtime,

just so we're on top of all of our intelligence communities, now our entire military is saying that they have seen no discernible change in North Korea's military, including nuclear capabilities.

Remember when Trump came out and said quote North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat?

Jesus. But the usual returds will find a way to minimize or explain away or weasel out of yet another Trump lie.

Note, this was sworn testimony to Congress.

I guess you could always try it out Rudy the saying that what Trump said was not under oath, so it's no big deal...

Head slap.

Holy .  The ENTIRE military is saying it?  How many people are in our military?  Gotta be a lot of people out there walking around saying it.

You are on the record as asserting is that NK is a nuclear threat against the U.S.

I am on the record asserting they are not.

That one chick from that commercial.

She looks both hot and ugly, smart and dumb, and young and old.  🤔

One thing's for sure, that farmer dude doesn't deserve her.

So, after pelosi absolutely raped him on the shutdown in the wall, he's looking for extra money. Imagine what he could have done with 12 billion dollars!
