There are certainly aspects of our culture that are very positive and is the reason that the west has dominated the globe for centuries now.

But it, like every culture, has it's negative aspects.

For example, we are never satisfied. There is never good enough. It is always better, faster, bigger, more. This spurred our economic growth and technological advancement. It is pretty unique to Western culture, although others have begun adopting it into their own.

The downside? Nothing is ever good enough. In spite of being the richest, most comfortable society in the history of the human race, we are some of the most unhappy people around. Always b!tching. Can't enjoy the things we have. Always obsessed with what we don't.

Here in Asia, they have this whole obedience to family death spiral thing we don't have. And they are also becoming very Tainted by our consumerism culture to boot.

Culture, by nature, is the process of forcing individuals to conform to a norm. That is never healthy.

Of course, the letting snowflakes do their own thing has a point where it goes too far too, As we are seeing. 

You used the word happy, I did not.

It seems to be a modern accepted belief that a healthy person is a happy person.  But that is zoroastrianism.  Christianity leads in a different direction, that a healthy person is a fulfilled person, which is quite a bit different.  In Christianity, you might not be happy but have this sense of deep personal fulfillment in your life's work such that your own happiness actually doesn't matter.

There are religious groups that are thriving because a deep sense of a fulfilled life and they might not seem happy to you so you question its validity, but it is a very strong and vibrant community just the same.

 

Maybe to make it easier to understand:

Person A :

Chases his own happiness.  Parties, sex, drugs, sports, gambling, whatever else makes them happy.  They achieve these things and find some measure of happiness and feel they lived life to the fullest, even if they never felt a part of something or a deep sense of fulfillment.

Person B:

Chases fulfillment.  Founds a community of like-minded people.  They help each other and work hard to build a better life for each other.  It can be hard, but the thought that everyone is taken care of when the work is done provides them with a deep sense of fulfillment and personal achievement.  They are never happy in the sense that person A ever was, but feel they lived life to the fullest and are proud of what they accomplished.

Sure. Happiness is different for different people. That is why freedom is the best thing. And many things people think make them happy really don't.

Of course, you're wrongly assuming that ALL women are parasites and incapable of maintaining a healthy marriage/relationship.  I've surely dealt with plenty of crazy, but I also know they're not all like that.

In fact, most of my friends and family members who are now married are pretty normal.  We've all have had at least one bad relationship, but that doesn't mean the next one will be.

Look I get it, some dudes come unhinged after a divorce and I feel bad for them. Some women do too. It's not my way, never been "head over heels" since I was a little kid. Got heart broke at 14 or 15, been nothin but tricks and hoes since.

A lot of people choose isolation because they feel wronged. It is their choice to be that way. I wouldn't be happy that way but I can empathize with ray here. 

I am currently actively dating. I meet women out in bars, at the gym, at the store, and online. I would say I have a decent sample size to draw a conclusion from. A lot of women, especially attractive ones, have a tendency to approach romance as a transaction. The old saying goes, reason why women in pornos suck c0ck so enthusiastically is because they getting paid to do so lol. 

Now not saying all women do this or that I would be so jaded as to chose isolation myself. Just saying I can empathize with ray. Where I would differ is I understand that we are all flawed, all people, men and women, black or white, tall or short, attractive or unattractive, etc....all of us are a mess. I take it as a given all people are duplicitous, irrational, and unstable. I assume that going in and chose to want to partake in that anyway. And I love it.

See I understand where ray is coming from but my advice to him would be not to isolate or give up. My opinion would be jump in the pool and swim with the sharks. Just don't commit unless you really want to and are ok with a potential heartbreak. Enjoy yourself and be responsible(wear a condom). And yes, the real thing is FAR superior to any porno or game.
