Right... What a phenomenal lack of self-awareness by a liberal...

Typical.

not that we're much better now, but we were incredibly stupid post 911. And our leadership egged that on something fierce.

I remember how are outraged all the idiots in Texas were about the Dixie Chicks. And this board was a perfect microcosm. "You can't criticize a president in a time of War! " And then we got a new president... The other favorite was "after 9/11 everything changed!" That was used anytime somebody pointed out the hypocrisy of the board chicken hawks.

sadly, there are still some idiots on this board who probably would insist that there were wmds. Hey, remember "we have to fight them over there or we'll have to fight them over here!" As if there were hordes of Iraqis in little rubber boats paddling like hell for the Eastern seaboard.

Sadly, they're probably still people on this board who don't understand how or why or that obl and Saddam Hussein were mortal enemies. The idea of them teaming up like some sort of Hall of Doom to attack America was nonsensical at best. But hey, you had Diick Cheney and crew selling that s*** on a daily basis.

And still, despite my best efforts, most of you probably don't even understand or know who curveball is or how literally one guy with a more than eager audience talked a super power into yet another Vietnam.

This may be the one thing that I agree with the millennials on. The people before them were such utter dumbfuucks. We're carrying massive amounts of debt and crap loads of physically and mentally impaired veterans and we're still embroiled in a situation that hasn't gotten any better.

Anybody who thought that we were going to somehow win Afghanistan? When Jesus Christ, people been trying that for two hundred years. Hasn't worked yet. Isn't working now.

As much as we look at millennials as morons. They've got a pretty good case against us as well.

To freedom fries  it was a typical panties in a bunch type moment for them, but it gave us some good laughs at the time.

I remember it and remember thinking it was stupid.

I liked Ronald Reagan's retort to French things he didn't like. When they wouldn't let the U.S. to use their airspace to bomb Libya, we dropped an extra one on the French Embassy in Libya.

That was an accident. (snigger).

I always had a high opinion of Regans Foreign policy. Back in the day, I had business meeting on Capitol Hill and the Pentagon. I ended ups on a flight sitting next to a high ranking financial official for the Pentagon. His card had that eagles and arrows U.S. shield on it in silver. I told him I thought Regan was instrumental in bringing down the Soviet Union by forcing them to spend more than they could sustain (like Star Wars). He told me he thought the same thing.

In the late 80's, I got to work with the Regan Detail of the Secret Service by providing them with a product to keep him more safe in particular locations. They never once reminded me to keep my mouth shut, and believe me: they didn't need to.

Re: WMDs in Iraq, personally I don't remember being sold about it. And the critique getting widespread attention soon afterward that it was a tool for Pax Americana/empire building was easy to believe as likely correct. But I wonder if the truth was somewhere in between actually. I was talking to a guy from Baghdad who stayed throughout the perils of the new government transition. He kinda laughs when he thinks about what America was thinking at the time, but he was glad to see Sadaam go. I may have these percentages backwards now but he reckoned 70% of Iraqi's wanted Sadaam out and the other 30% experienced class benefits/perks from being attached to the regime.

Anyway, there are some aware of major transport missions from Iraq to Damascus in the couple months leading up to the US operation. Missions that look like important stuff is being transported with a major attempt for secrecy. When you really consider the info it seems to have veracity and not be cooked up by laymen. When I asked about this whole school of thought, to him it actually seemed really possible. It's just he also immediately understood that the American people and the decision making back then were not directly linked, outside of propoganda. He was my Lyft driver and the next day the driver was an Iranian Kurd who had a heck of a time getting to the US. Those were interesting rides.

Yes.  They added 25% more freedom.

The French have always had a love\hate with freedom. Even with the 25% the average fry still only has 45%.

I was in a truck stop bathroom taking a piss here in the Deep South when all that was going on. I look over at the rubber machines and one was selling Freedom Ticklers instead of French Ticlers. I bought ten of them.

Was that before or after they lied us into Iraq?

I think it was before they lied to us about saving $2500 a year on health insurance and being able to keep your doctor and plan.

Was that before or after Trump eliminated the debt and replaced the ACA with “something wonderful”? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Apples and carburetors.

Since 2001, about 1,650 U.S. troops have lost hands, arms, legs or feet during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Year after year, combat in both theaters created amputees — scores in some years, hundreds in others. Six years ago, in June and July alone, 78 servicemembers who entered the service with all their limbs left with one or more missing.

Talk about liberal censorship. You might want to ask the Dixie Chicks about the other side's censorship.

We fought them there so we wouldn’t have to fight them here.

Except it had little to do with Green, and much more to do with Socialism (as a step towards Communism) and governing every aspect of your life.

Kind of like how the Khmer Rouge did it back in the day.  Good Times!
