Frontline did a really interesting documentary on the whole justification for the Iraq War.

the neocons would have you believe that it was a massive intelligence failure. Which is pretty shity, because they know the Intel Community can't snap back at them.

Curveball:

The German BND had custody of this joker. And he was blue listed. Meaning the US couldn't take him into custody. But the interview the two agents that debriefed curveball and even they had sent warnings back saying this guy's a alcoholic degenerative liar.

They were absolutely gobsmacked when Colin Powell's speech to the UN was almost verbatim what came out of this guy's mouth.

Colin Powell:

Speaking of colin. there were two versions of that speech written. 1 by the Sea AA in 1 punched up by scooter Libby and Cheney and company. Powell was apparently himself shocked at the things that he was reading. I don't know how much I believe him though.

CIA:

However, the CIA was also gobsmacked that their speech that they had prepared was basically ship canned in favor of a pack of lies.

CIA/Cheney:

One of the analyst and her supervisor told this story. there is massive pressure from Cheney to find a link between Al-Qaeda and Iraq. They simply couldn't find the link. So they submitted their reports in the White House saying that. Those reports are purposely anonymous. Yet, somehow, Cheney and Libby got this analyst personal phone number and called her up and said "stay there we're coming right over. " They came over to Langley and basically brow beat the hell out of her and her supervisor and his supervisor.

Bremmer:

Quite possibly the biggest f up in the entire clusterflock that was Iraq was the so-called d bath acacian process. they interviewed multiple generals who literally woke up one day to find out all the guys that they had told don't worry you're going to keep your job. I've been fired by Paul bremer. These were all the Sunni military types under Saddam. So not only did we look like liars, we had a standing army with no jobs who are pissed off at us for good reason.

They had the training, the motivation, and, some pencil Pusher in the Pentagon decided it was cheaper to leave the equipment in Iraq than try to ship it back to the States. So then they had the training, the motivation, and the weaponry. And that, my friends, became ISIS.

Oh, and then to try and fix things? They withdrew 12 billion dollars in cash. That's 281m separate bills weighing 363 tons shrink wrapped and placed on pallets. Those were flown on 21 separate C130 flights into Iraq and given out willy-nilly to try to appease these pissed off former soldiers.

They gladly took the money.

I get it though, you want to lash and I don't blame you.

Considering the L's your side has taken since Trump took office, let it out little fella, let it all out.

The fact that this was not a big issue with the MSM is a great example of their bias.  Could you imagine if that were Trump?  It would be 24/7 coverage.

You mean like when Don needed Teresa mays help navigating basic stairs? Or when he drank water repeatedly with two hands like a four-year-old? Pretty good indication of a severe palsy.  The next two years are going to be tough on him.

Meanwhile, you guys are jerking off to an imaginary president?

Iraq had WMDs but they were old, manufactured before 1991, but they still existed in corroded form.  They did not have an active WMD program. but it could be reasonably assumed they could restart it at any time to supply terrorists.

Bush had a political calculation to make in 2002 and early 2003:

1.  Build up the military on the Iraq border, talk tough, but ultimately back down on the active WMD program point.  In this scenario, the democrats begin to immediately attack him for being a wimp, for backing down, for being a frat boy unable to pull the trigger.  The democrats will go on TV every day and say Saddam still has a chemical weapons stockpile (which he did) and that Saddam could sell them in some form to terrorists.  Every terror attack in the future will include a LOOOONG line of democrats getting in front of a camera and wondering if the supplies used to perpetrate that attack came from Iraq.

2.  Invade Iraq on the premise that he has a WMD stockpile and failed to fully comply with inspections, ignore the active WMD part.  In this scenario, the democrats will ignore the issue of the old chemical weapon stockpile being sold to terrorists and attack Bush for not finding an active WMD program.  It is very likely that a thorough search of Iraqi laboratories turns up evidence of some chemical weapon activity anyway making it a slam dunk.

Without knowing how things played out, I think most people in Bush's shoes select option 2.

Unfortunately, absolutely no evidence of any kind of active WMD program was ever found, and the democrats somehow managed to convince the public that no WMDs were found (which they were): https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/10/14/world/middleeast/us-casualties-of-iraq-chemical-weapons.html?_r=0

From 2004 to 2011, American and American-trained Iraqi troops repeatedly encountered, and on at least six occasions were wounded by, chemical weapons remaining from years earlier in Saddam Hussein’s rule.

In all, American troops secretly reported finding roughly 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, according to interviews with dozens of participants, Iraqi and American officials, and heavily redacted intelligence documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

If Bush does not invade in 2003, the politics play out differently.  The democrats will highlight that these 5000 Iraqi WMDs exist and could be sold to terrorists now that Bush did not invade.

I knew some moron would come up with this. we're talking about new wmds created past exit date as stipulated by both the US and the UN. Not passed stock piles of largely dormant chemical weapons. For Christ's sake, bleach is a chemical weapon. For the love of Christ, more soldiers were poisoned by the burn pits in their own fobs than by poison gas. And you know that if you'd read something.

Read the reports of the Iraq inspection group. Read Colin Powell speech. Read the comments from Bush Cheney and rumsfeld to the press and to the American public. Read something for Christ's sake read the Iraq e inspection report. Hell, as far back as 2004 we admitted that there were no new wmds. our own Administration admitted it. So maybe you can catch up to them at least?

Jesus. I just knew somebody would be that f****** stupid.

How does mobile weapons Labs work out for you? How the nuclear programs work out for you? Yellow cake? Aluminum tubes?

Jesus, we didn't even go after the old weapons the first time. 😁

Amid questions about prewar intelligence, the White House is acknowledging that President Bush was incorrect when he said in his State of the Union address that Iraq recently had sought significant quantities of uranium in Africa.

Claims about Saddam's weapons of mass destruction were a primary justification for the war, but U.S. forces have yet to find any such weapons. The House and Senate intelligence panels

Ladies and germs, is exactly how Donald Trump got elected. Even when the White House admitted that there were no wmds over and over and over and over again. Even 10 years later after there have been literally dozens if not hundreds of investigations, there are still the guys running over there Dixie Chicks CDs swearing to God that there were wmds! And if you don't like it you can get the heck out of Amurica!

God, a nation of f****** morons more interested in the results of The amazing race than wars that results in the deaths and wounding of over 50000 Americans. F****** astounding.

You know why Donald Trump's president? Because we deserve it.

See, i Knew someone would probably do this.  The democrats made Iraq and Bush such an emotional issue that its almost impossible to have a logical conversation about it.

I linked a new york times article detailing the WMDs found in iraq.  They existed.  These weren't bottles of bleach.  Stop being emotional and open your eyes.

In 2019 we are actually debating whether going into Iraq was a good idea? Holy Christ.

I'm saying the democrats were going to excoriate Bush either way wether he went in or not.

1.  If he goes in, they will say no active program was found.

2. If he doesn't go in, they will say Bush is a wimp and every terror attack in the future will have 329478234892374389 democrats in front of a microphone openly demanding an investigation on if Saddam supplied the WMDs or training or any kind of aid to the effort and then immediately demand impeachment.  If an attack goes off in America and Iraq had the slightest thing to do with it, the democrats would still be building granite monuments for the victims and remind everyone that Bush didn't invade when he could have done so to stop the attack.

He just took the option that was more appealing.  In fact, I don't think there is a single president that would NOT invade given those options.

I mean sheet.  If Bush does NOT invade, and there is a terror attack on US soil and some democrat traces a strand of hair back to Saddam, Bush not only resigns the presidency but his entire family probably have to move overseas for the rest of their lives.
