Instant Fantasy Analysis - RB Miles Sanders, Eagles

Recommended Posts

Miles Sanders Profile

That comes as no surprise Philadelphia went running back on Day 2 of the draft. Although the Eagles traded for Jordan Howard, he is a free agent after the season and may not be versatile enough to be considered the long-term answer at the position. Sanders followed in the rather large footsteps of Saquon Barkley and accounted for himself quite nicely in his one season as the starter at Penn State. Per Pro Football Focus, Sanders ranked eighth (out of 55 qualified backs) in yards after contact per touch (3.68) and 20th in forced missed tackles per touch (0.202). He even managed to total 322 yards after getting contacted at or behind the line of scrimmage, ranking seventh among the 96 FBS backs with 60 or more such carries. Ball security was an issue for him, however, so perhaps Philadelphia will make sure to work with him on that while sitting behind Howard in 2019. He probably needs to be considered a handcuff for Howard this spring and summer. In rookie drafts, he figures to be a second-round consideration.

Guru, can he catch, and if so, could he then surpass Smallwood as the Eagles rb2,, and maybe even hurt Howard’s value based on playing time in the passing game, also do you know about the stats of D Sproles?

Yes, he's obviously not Saquon Barkley in the passing game, but he's not going to embarrass himself either. I think he can definitely beat out Smallwood. I'm assuming Sproles is retiring, although I haven't seenn anything official on that.

I dont consider Sproles to be a threat to the starting job.  at best he will be a third down specialist in passing situations where they need a scat back.

but on this team I think Smallwood can play that role, so its tough to say if Sproles will play much at all unless some people ahead of him on the depth chart get hurt.

Philly is rbbc, but I can see Howard carving out a 60% share.  Sanders would have legit value only if Howard is injured or fails to grasp the offense imo.

With all those rb the eagles have, and the Eagles coaching staff showing how they truly don’t want to commit to any rb as a true rb1, I would say 50 percent would be more like it for Howard.

Howard May start our year with 60% but will finish as a dud.  Anyone dogging Sanders has not seen him play.  If he doesn’t have a fumbling problem he is a dynasty gem.

Guy is legit
