He starred as the male lead in the Twilight Saga alongside Kristen Stewart.  It makes sense as he should appeal to a younger audience and has credibility playing a dark brooding character.  Kristen Stewart herself could probably do Batgirl for this generation, but that's just my speculation.

Pattinson was heavily criticized for poor acting in the Twilight Saga films, but later he said even he hated those films.  Pattinson was given strongly positive reviews for his acting in Good Time (2017).  However, we will see what quality of script he gets (if he indeed becomes the Batman).   While the choice may get panned at first, it may work out.  Christian Bale was not warmly received because they said he was too skinny to play the role but he bulked up and Pattinson is also skinny but could also bulk up.  Heath Ledger was ridiculed at first as a choice for the Joker.

Nicholas Hoult is also a top contender for the role.  He played Hank McCoy / Beast in the X-Men reboot starting with First Class.

Yeah that was decent... He was also in one called The Rover which was also pretty good, kind of a dystopian type movie. I think both were/are on Netflix or AP.

Robert Pattinson has officially won the role as Batman over Nicholas Hoult.  A new trilogy of films is in the works, starting with "the Batman" in 2021.

I never watched those vampire movies that he was in. But here's how bad they must have been. Anna Kendrick didn't even remember that she was in those movies.

He was in a movie called The Lighthouse with Willem Defoe last year by the same guy who directed The Witch in 2016-17. Haven’t seen it yet but The Witch was great and Pattinson is supposed to be really good in it.
