Without going to Google, I can tell you that George Michael wrote "Careless Whisper" at 17 years old, and included the other guy in Wham as a song writing credit, so he would have income for life.  Queen ask George to fill in for Freddie Mercury at a gig. I will see if I can find it on YourTube.

Yes, it was.

After his Freedom '90 song and video, where he disavowed the music industry and said he'd no longer sell out himself and his soul to sell records, his success plummeted. This live cover was awesome. He also did live covers of Killer/Papa Was a Rolling Stone and Don't let the Sun Go Down on Me that also kicked ass.  But his studio singles dried up. The few he had (Fastlove, Too Funky, Jesus to a Child) are mostly forgettable.

Dude was seriously talented (and the music video for Freedom '90 was hot as hell).

Voted for Careless Whisper (just never got into the Wham! stuff) and Freedom '90 (Father Figure would have been my second choice).
