MTSkiBum 1,587 Posted June 11, 2019 My E-Etec 200 HO, same as E-Tec 225 has started to overheat when I run it above 4000 RPM's for an extended time and at 3000 RPM's it will run 20 degrees hotter than the other engine. So far I have changed the water pump, water intake, pressure relief valve, and thermostat. The next option is to pull the block and check for a clogged line i guess, but i am hoping that someone else has a solution.

NorthernVike 2,079 Posted June 11, 2019 It sounds like you're not getting enough water through the engine. With a new pump on it, it must be a clog somewhere in the line.
Cloaca du jour 2,064 Posted June 11, 2019 salt buildup...flush it out...there are solvents u can buy. Maybe garden hose it.. Saltwater correct? make sure you flush it out after you use it.

The water line goes in places where the block needs to be removed, which means a mechanic, which means another thousand dollars down the drain at a minimum. bandrus1 413 Posted June 11, 2019 I would look and see if the water intake at bottom is clean . Where you would butt the muffs on it. I had an overheating episode after launching in low muddy water and it was clogged

Tell me about it. I just had to replace the trim motor and hydraulic on my merc along with a new steering cable. $2200. My pontoon is only 10 years old. Optional: Anytime you have to replace a steering cable you should upgrade to hydraulic steering for only 5 times the cost.
