MDC 5,890 Posted June 11, 2019 I like Frasier a lot but there’s no way it’s better than Cheers IMHO.

Hardcore troubadour 12,630 Posted June 11, 2019 Too gay. Chicks not hot enough. Not that Diane was hot, but it wasn't gay and no hot chicks.

Frasier > Cheers Loved Frasier, but it was a notch below Cheers. I always wanted that English accented chick. Smoking hot in a girl next door kind of way.

Fumbleweed 426 Posted June 11, 2019 What I'd like to know is how a local radio show host affords to live like he did. Not realistic.

Prime time network television is known for its lifting up of the culture. What was its theme? Someone trying to find love? Unique concept.

Bier Meister 1,513 Posted June 11, 2019 Great show. Neck and neck with cheers.... better writing imo. Wife and I watch it before bed. yeah, a psychiatrist is going to be doing well. Add the talk show and endorsements.... I know a local radio personality and he lives in a fairly affluent neighborhood in southern Marin. Doing very well for himself
Big Blue 06 195 Posted June 11, 2019 Loved that show and watched it when it was live. I just recently got into watching it again on Netflix, and it’s just as funny now.
Cruzer 1,992 Posted June 11, 2019 Frasier is one of the most underrated shows of all time. But Cheers it is not. to compare the two is not really a fair fight.

I only saw a few episodes when it was on originally and enjoyed it. Saw it was on Netflix and gave it a go, there's only so much stand-up comedy I can watch. And I'll admit I was a little sad when I got to the last episode and knew I was done.

wiffleball 4,639 Posted June 12, 2019 Frasier was one of the far more smartly written comedies in a long time. The ep where Niles participated in a very physical sword fight whilst translating from 3-4 languages was hysterical. However, they tended to dip into the British Farce format/mode far too often. Re Cheers: I tended to zone out anything with Tortellis, Diane, Rebecca, Robin, etc. Woody pretty much saved the show post Coach.
titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted June 12, 2019 I agree. Frasier was better than cheers. Of course, I was 10 in 1990, so that probably colors my perception of cheers.

Big Blue 06 195 Posted June 12, 2019 I will just say this to anyone who doesn’t like this show: Watch an episode called “Ham Radio”. Not sure what season it is (it was 1997). I laughed out loud at least 10 times during that episode.
