I joined FBG and made 1 post. I was in opposition to some of the AOC hype and what she stood for. No foul words, no aggressive tactics, nothing. Just an opinion. Banned within 1 minute. 

It's the agenda of the moderators on that site that don't allow opposing viewpoints to the leftist posters there. The leftists here leave because their basic socialistic viewpoints cannot stand up to capitalism and constitution in any argument put forth. So they run away because they keep losing. A few stuck around because they have no self worth and don't mind getting bested on a daily basis.

I obviously disagree with both assertions. First one depends upon the issue or statements.  On this bored I have seen blatant defense of racist rhetoric.  In very extreme examples, no, I have little tolerance for intolerance. The other 95% of the time I want to hear the why. Some right posters here do not expand and just continue to bash.

To the second point, I have seen much more black and white thinking from the conservative aisle.  Much more clenching to status quo, slippery slope arguments, etc. Very all or nothing imo.

When that forum was new back in 2001, I saw a post that wasn't offensive get banned and I said, politely, we should be more careful about banning people, that's a quality contributor there who said nothing inflammatory.

And so that's how I got banned.

Well, I'd already been walking on eggshells to that point anyway, but that was the point when I realized I should just give up on the place. I'm an adult, I won't be treated like a child. I didn't feel I belonged on that forum.

And I'm not perfect. I deserved being called out out here for something wholly inappropriate that I'd posted ten years ago and that I still beat myself up for. (Someone wondered what was going through GWB's mind at some point, and I'd replied "Hopefully a lead slug." That's defiantly crossing the line and I deleted the post but it still bothers me that I'd posted it al these years later.  To everybody here's credit, nobody else makes jokes like that.)

So as ,ore information has emerged we now know that these kids were in fact trying to steal some stuff, got caught, police came in arrests were made...misinformation was passed and it seems that the legal victory was a result of the ability of the accuser to prove the it was the schools leadership that contributed to this, moreover the claims were false on every front.

The outcome in so far as awarding "victory" to the bakery is spot on correct, the amount awarded seems a little crazy.

Still, this is needed, the inclination to cry racism and then destroy cannot be allowed to be used in a weaponized form like this.  Smollett may have learned, now Oberlin, more need to learn

If the arrest was egregious and racist, why didn't the protesters go after the police? If the arrest was unwarranted, as they claim, the police  should also have been liable. But they didn't, they decided to pick on the powerless.  So they thought. Plus, I can tell you from personal experience, colleges want to enjoy a good relationship with the local PD. You can guess why.

This was on CBS Sunday morning, they did a great job showing how ignorant and repugnant both the students and school were and still are today.   Kudos, now crossing my fingers the school loses its appeal and has to shell out millions of dollars, would be nice if the school has to close as well.....pathetic and sick people....
