Useless Sports Trivia

Recommended Posts

One baseball and one hockey:

Four players and one manager have had a different uniform number retired by more than one team.  Example: Joe Blow had #13 retired by the Yankees and #14 retired by the Tigers.  All the players played and the manager managed within my lifetime of watching baseball. (Mid 1970s forward)

Four players have scored 100 points or more in each of their first three seasons in the NHL.  Two of these are easy, one semi-easy, and one you would have to be a huge hockey fan to know.  Late 70s/Early 80s is as far back as you need to go.

Gretzky, Lemeuix and Crosby are the only 3 I can think of, wasn't Lindros really good when he came out then tailed off?

The Great One and Super Mario are correct.  Crybaby Crosby only had 72 points in his third season, limited to 53 games due to injury.

Lindros only had one 100+ point season in his career.

Jagr seems too obvious. I'm gonna go Pavel Bure and Messier with my other 2 choices. Prolly still wrong.

Yeesh. Bure never even scored 100 once in his career. He was so good in NHL '94 though. I feel ashamed :(

Nolan Ryan is the only one I know.

Reggie Jackson # 9 with A's, 44 with Yankees is correct.

Nolan Ryan #30 with Angels and #34 with both Texas teams is correct.

So far the Big Unit only has his number #51 retired by D-Backs

Along with Gretzky and Lemiuex, Peter Stastny is the semi-easy...

I looked up the huge hockey fan, never would have guess that one...

I would have figured on you jumping on the baseball first.  Yes Stastny is correct.  The last one is off the charts difficult.

Did Wade Boggs have his jersey retired by the Rays?  I know he had a different number, but can't recall if he had it retired...

Pudge is correct for the final answer.

The hockey player no one has guessed yet is a former Captain of the Hartford Whalers, a guy named Mike Rogers. If anyone knew that one I would be impressed.

What do the 1994 MLB Home Run leader, 1997 NFL Touchdown leader and the 1999 NHL goal leader all have in common.

Off the top of my head - Matt Williams, Terrell Davis, and not sure what NHL is.
