Humans actually die more often on holidays.  A lot of reasons have been theorized and discarded.  Is it due to loneliness and depression over the holidays?  Nope because people with Altzeimers or otherwise incapacitated also show a rise in death rate on holidays.  Substance abuse?  Nope, surprisingly substance abuse death is lower on holidays.  Suicide rate spike?  Nope, suicides are less frequent on the holidays.  The determining factor actually tends to be lack of access to care.  People are on vacation and traveling and not near their doctor or hospital.  Or maybe they sense a medical problem but do nothing because they don't want to ruin the vacation or holiday fun.  Or maybe even their doctor is away on vacation.  Or a friend isn't there because they went on vacation and can't to rush them to the hospital.  That causes the death rate to rise slightly on holidays.
