Perot's candidacy was a warning sign of what was to come.  Americans' trust in the system had fallen far enough to allow Perot to become a political force, but not quite far enough to allow a total outsider to win.  Trust in the system collapsed late in Obama's second term after Obama and the press went on a blitz of social issues such as gay marriage, a war on cops, feminism, abortion, and open borders all at once.  That pushed the nation over the edge, and the republican base totally lost faith in the system and elected Trump.  Perot was the precursor quake.

 

And its not done. Civil war is next.

Few believed the first civil war would happen until states started seceding.   The belief was that things like the Missouri Compromise would fix our problems.  But you need to realize that the republican base has totally lost trust in the system.  Because of that, its just a matter of time.  I think at a minimum, we will see political unrest and violence the next time a democrat wins the white house because, for a lot of republicans, they will just assume it means open borders and the nation is lost, so they will riot.  It won't matter if the democrats promise no open borders policy either, because they don't trust their word at all.  That's the problem - you can't defuse any of it once trust is lost.  There's no speech you can give, no action you can take, to fix it.  Its a forest fire with 0% contain that just has to run its course.

I just don't see ANY way the republican base accepts another democrat president.  The republican base will just assume its gonna be open borders and effectively the end of the nation no matter what she / he says and they will start arming and fighting.   Although it might start sooner than the next democrat president.

I think you're FAR over-estimating the number of far-right, and far-left people there are in this country.  They're definitely the vocal minority.

 

If there was a "civil war" it would last shorter than push into Iraq.  To think that any group of citizens today is going to compete with the US military is laughable.

This has been already covered.  The revolutionary war had maybe 20%-25% support starting out.  The overwhelmingly majority of the colonists wanted to stay British subjects.  The funny thing about civil war is if 20%-25% want to have a civil war, then....you have a civil war.  And I'll bet the bulk of the military joins the revolt.

Also, revolts come the lower classes.  I doubt a single person on this forum would join the revolt because most here have jobs and families.  It'll be poor blue collar whites unable to make it who are unemployed or underemployed.

Look at polling data.  People without a college degree used to always be democrats.  In the 21st century it flipped.  Now they are republicans.    That means the grass roots, the raw emotion and energy in the nation now is right wing.

3% is only around 10 million. 

Its pretty normal where I live too. But there are a lot of things going on on the west coast that could cause on uprising. I mean officers in certain locations are told to stand down even when someone is breaking the law.

i don’t think we’re close to a civil war, I think a lot of other things would need to happen for civil war to break out. But people like Kanil who say “won’t ever happen you’re stupid” are equally if not dumber than the people who say it’s going to happen very soon. That being said....I don't think a civil war is coming. The left is pushing for it (riots, fighting vs police, etc....) but lucky for them it won't happen.

If everybody who claimed to have voted for him actually did he would have won. He's the "I was at Woodstock" of presidential candidates. But he was right on about NAFTA, and he knew Clinton would get suckered.  Still, voting for him made sense, it wasn't a cop-out like voting for Gary Johnson.  Only clowns and fools did that

I think the US military would support whoever was legally elected.  I don't know if you served but I distinctly remember vowing to "protect the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic".  Whichever side was trying to overthrow the constitution is the side going against the government.

If they didn't persist, then I would be inclined to agree.  Also there is just as much smoke that the Dems tried to undermine his candidacy.  In any coup, revolution, civil war, etc., it really comes down to the General's choosing the side.  Usually they are split.
