I don't know who painted this, but I'd put him up there with the best.

Pure blues is admittedly pretty boring after awhile.  But there are hundreds of amazing blues based bands and thousand of amazing blues based songs.

My top 5 favs in order:

SRV

BB

John Lee

Jimi

Keb Mo

Beck can play the blues with the best of them, but he’s not exactly a blues artist.

Robert Johnson and its not even close to some listed. SRV couldn't do what he did. Greatest blues guitar player of all time. Selling your soul to the devil at a country road in the Deep South will do that.

He’s The Godfather of all it all.

But, his records are pretty hard to listen to.   If you’re a guitar player,  you can appreciate what he did, but the original songs themselves just arent that great.

What?  They're fawking incredible. The eeriness and vibe you feel listening to it is beautiful. It's hard to understand. But when you do and can, its magic.

Again, I acknowledge his awesomeness, but it just doesn’t do it for me.

surpriesd to see The Allmans, and Gary Moore at all.  Kind of surprised to see Taj Mahal, he is blues based, but it always sounds more like world music.  Surprised the Black Keys didnt make it.

Calling a bunch of the artist on the list "Blues Artist" is a stretch.

The worst omission, in my opinion, is Michael Bloomfield.
