Just because other's "think" it is, doesn't mean it actually is.  Most people who do this don't have the first clue about guns - they only repeat the talking points.

I have plenty of experience with all sorts of weapons. More than most. I would consider an AR-15 an assault rifle.  Big deal. It's not impressing anyone saying it isn't  and it's not going to sway an argument. Stop harping on it. 2A proponents have a lot better ways of defending their rights and making their argument than getting hung up on this this type of minutiae.

Quite a few of the mass shootings were done with handguns. Banning AR-15s (which personally I don't see the point of owning i.e. it's a toy) is just getting their foot in the door to taking away all guns which is one of the steps of any attempt at Socialism.

No it isn't. I don't care what ignorant, uneducated anti gunners want to call it. An assault rifle, by definition, is fully automatic. AR's are semi. That, right there, excludes them from the assault weapon category. Not to mention they weren't designed for infantry use. We've never sent anybody to war with an AR.

Yesterday Joe Biden called for a ban on magazines that can hold more than one bullet.  But yeah, why would anyone worry about a slippery slope re: gun control?  It's like I said in the other thread.  The left side of the aisle probably has some good ideas worth considering but they get drowned out by the crazy and the extremism.

Towards reducing the number of handguns and the amount of handgun ammo on the streets.
