Axe Elf's Matchup Lineup Contest - Week 1

Recommended Posts

Because I'm bored...

Here's a little contest where you pick your fantasy team from the matchups contained within the Week 1 games; i.e., Atlanta is at Minnesota, so you pick your QB from between Matt Ryan @ Kirk Cousins, get it?

Scoring

Passing:  1 pt per 25 yds, 4 pts per TD, -2 pts per INT, 2 pts per 2 pt conversion

Rushing/Receiving:  1 pt per 10 yds, 6 pts per TD, -2 pts per fumble lost, 2 pts per 2 pt conversion

Kicking: 1 pt per XP, 3 pts per FG up to 30 yds, 0.1 pt per yard for every additional yard

DST:  1 pt per sack, 2 pts per turnover, 2 pts per safety, 2 pts per blocked punt/kick, 6 pts per TD, 5 pts per 0-2 pts allowed, 3 pts per 3-10 pts allowed, 1 pt per 10-17 pts allowed

Pick the 1 player you think will score more fantasy points from each pair of in-game positional matchups; you earn one point for each correct pick (or tied pick).  10 points per week possible.  I am not using EVERY NFL game, but I am not using any NFL game more than once.

I don't know if I will do this for one week or six weeks or what, but whenever I get tired of keeping track of it I plan on awarding a $10 Amazon gift card to the participant with the most correct cumulative picks.

QB:  Matt Ryan @ Kirk Cousins

RB1:  Saquon Barkley @ Ezekiel Elliott

RB2:  Joe Mixon @ Chris Carson

WR1:  DeAndre Hopkins @ Michael Thomas

WR2:  Robert Woods @ D.J. Moore

WR3:  John Brown @ Robby Anderson

Flex:  Phillip Lindsay @ Antonio Brown

TE:  Delanie Walker @ David Njoku

K:  Adam Vinatieri @ Michael Badgley

DST:  Pittsburgh @ New England

After thinking about this more lucidly, away from the misty fogs of 2:00 am, it occurred to me that this site has "forever" editing--and that a post doesn't show that it's been edited unless the editor checks the box to show that it has been edited--which is to say that there's nothing stopping someone from going back into their original post late Monday night and changing all their answers to get a perfect score.

I'm not saying that this is what Apparition DID do (although a perfect score in Week 1 is highly suspicious), but I am saying that since the potential exists for some nefarious character with no integrity to do that, this contest is now closed for Week 2 and will not continue into any subsequent weeks.  Sorry, it seemed like it would be fun.

So, since I hate punish anyone who was not cheating if they were not, and I also hate to reward anyone for cheating if they were, I think the most fair thing to do here is to offer a $10 Amazon gift card to everyone who participated in Week 1.

So if any of the six participants listed in the results above want to post (or PM me) their email addresses, I will get a gift card out to you shortly.

Thanks.

I didn't cheat...I just got lucky. holmesdn2013@aol.com

And I didn't accuse you of cheating, I just called off the contest when I recognized that the potential for cheating exists.

$10 Amazon gift card sent; let me know if you don't receive it shortly.

I still have an AOL address too.  It's handy to use when you have to give an email address to get a freebie or something, but you know you're going to get bombarded with spam because of it.

I have another that I use for everything else, though.
