ROS: Baker Mayfield, Jameis Winston or Kyler Murray

Recommended Posts

All three pretty close on most ROS rankings. Looking to get your thoughts.  Thanks!

The fabulous Baker boy has looked anything but. Even his big play was a yac from Odell. Kyler is slinging it and making Larry Fitz look like a deep ball specialist.

I have thoughts on each of them, but probably not much in the way of help.

Murray - Man, this kid truly does look special.  They will always be playing from behind, which is awesome from a fantasy perspective.  I wouldn't want him in against the Rams or Seahawks though, possibly not the 49'ers either.  I grade heavily on offensive lines and they have one of the 3 worst in the league.  That said, he's going to put up points.  Even if they don't more than a couple games this season, the future looks bright in AZ.

Winston - I know I've posted this before, but I'm not sold that Arians is there to "coach-up" Winston.  I think he is there to decide whether he gets an extension or not.  If Arians cannot get him on the right path, he's done.  The arm talent and the supporting cast are present.  It's what is in between his ears that makes me think he's just another guy.  He will put up points too, provided he's playing.  What happens if Tampa is 1-6 or 2-7 in another six weeks?  I think they will go into full on tank mode if that occurs and Arians will take someone in the draft.  So, while he has the weapons to top this list, he has the IQ to also bottom it.

Baker will be fine once they fix their line.  Not having a LT, and having a 3rd string Guard playing next a LT that isn't qualified, is scary for anyone.  I expect they will begin using more 3 step drops and Baker will either throw it away or hit the short passes.  I never had him listed as one of my top tier QB's, even with OBJ.  It's hard to pass when someone is wanting to pound your head into the turf.

So - Being a gambler, I'd take Winston and bet he turns things around.  I don't think he will, but of the three, he has the best opportunity and I believe if you are picking between players in fantasy football, think of the ceiling, not the floor.  Murray is far and away my favorite of the group., but he's also playing 6 Divisional games and, I believe, three more, against teams who can rush the passer and make his life an absolute hell.  Baker will still be good.  Maybe even great.  Just not the stats people thought for this season.

3. Winston- as a Godwin owner I fear they will pull the plug.  He is a head case and good melt down for a benching at any time.  Their schedule is brutal with traveling across the country and a lack of home games.

2. Murray- the awesome thing is that he has a huge yardage floor on passing.  They just dont seem to have guys that make plays in the red zone.   Would like to see him take off and run.

3.  Mayfield-  has not been great.  True that OBJ's yac made his game last week.  It helps that he does have the playmakers.  Cleveland might be still figuring out the offense.

So Winston and Mayfield are tied for 3rd, with Murray 2nd?

Who's on first?

Why do people still consider Winston at all, I gave up on that dude like 2 years ago.

I also started Derek Carr last week...so what the hell do I know.

Rolling Murray out to the bitter end!

IDK but honestly I'm enjoying the Browns stumbling to start the season.

So much hype for a team and QB that went 1-7 on the road last year.

They beat the Jets week 1 and lost every other game.

People talking about this team like they were gonna go into KC or NE and win a game to go to the super bowl.

GTFO

This is a very confusing/inaccurate post.

Yes I mixed up what game they won.  Cleveland went 1-7 on the road last year.

There one win was 17-16 at Denver and they lost every other away game.

That was my basic point.

K. Murray making his move.  Rushing yards over past 3 weeks looking real good.

Schedule softens up big time in next 5 weeks.  4 of his next 5 games will be passing defense ranked: 31,26,27,7,29

Against soft defenses, they should all put up decent points.  I'd take any of the 3 with my crappy QB situation.  Andrew Luck, whoops.  Traded for Big Ben.  Ouch.  I'm down to Jacoby B. and Philip Rivers.  So, all three above QB's are kicking the crap out of my guys.

He's no longer available.  I was hoping to pick him up, but Week One was the only game I have won, so I was too far down the waiver wire list to nab him.  It's a very large league, so the wire is pretty much empty, except for third stringers.

I dropped Mayfield for Murray weeks ago. I feel good about it. Picked up Brees a month ago when he got injured. Waiting for him.

I have Mayfield going tonight.

I let Allen go based on his injury statis.

So I’ll see what happens.

I would take Murray, easily.

He's started to run the ball a lot and will be airing it out too.

He may not have the best efficiency but he'll put up big totals

I have mayfield tonight too.  I think it might be time to drop him.  I figured by now he would have done something but nope.  100 yards passing after 3 quarters.

Winston has far better talent to throw to.

Oh my soul, he lost two points tonight did Mayfield.

It’s really hard to understand with Landry and Beckham and with Chubb that they with Mayfield blow stink and suck so badddddd.

They remind me of John McKay's 0-fer TB Bucs-that bad.

I stand by my confusing and wrong post.

Browns over hyped  went 1-7 on the road last year and look like trash

K. Murray with the best game on the season.

340 Passing 3 TD and 32 rushing yards.

If Bryant had kicked the extra point it would had gone to OT with even a bigger day.

Atlanta’s defense is ‘get someone fired’ bad.

Still, I’ll take Murray. Safer floor. Fun ceiling if things start working out. Winston can score 3 or 33 any week and you’ll never know when one or the other is coming. I don’t trust the Browns cuz it’s the Browns, Chubb is their best offensive weapon easily, and the LSU WRs might be better blockers than WRs for Cleveland’s needs.
