bostonlager 2,457 Posted September 26, 2019 Vin Scully is #1, but Marty is the clear #2 of all time. He will be missed. https://www.wlwt.com/article/after-46-years-1-final-broadcast-for-marty-brennaman/29233627
posty 2,296 Posted September 26, 2019 Personally I think Brennaman was a putz at broadcasting... Still a legend, but still a putz...

I'd put them 1 through 3 in that order. As for Brennaman, meh. I've listened to him, but thought he wasn't anything special. He is for Cincinnati, and that's fine, but not nationally. Other guys I like... Greg Brown (Pirates), Jon Miller (S.F. Giants), Bob Uecker (Brewers), and Ted Leitner (Padres). John Sterling is probably the worst I've ever heard. Absolutely horrible. I never listen to the Yankees any more because of him.

Agreed. The Yanks haven't had good announcers ... tv or radio ... since Staats/Kubek.

jerryskids 5,169 Posted September 26, 2019 Not really familiar with Marty's work, although we had his son Thom in AZ for a while, he was good. Another HOFer we had was Joe Garagiola. My wife has fond memories of listening to Ernie Harwell do Tigers games. So many good ones, Scully is probably the best I've heard.
EternalShinyAndChrome 2,493 Posted September 26, 2019 Bob Uecker is #1. It's not even close. Who is is this Marty guy?
