Adams with turf toe; which GB WR to target?

Recommended Posts

Davante Adams said he's battling turf toe

Davante Adams said he's battling turf toe.

He delivered a career-high in yards (180) before a right toe injury put an end to his night Thursday in a loss to Philadelphia. Adams claimed to be in so much pain after the game he didn't "even want to try" putting his shoe back on. None of it sounds promising, though at least Adams will have 10 days to rest up before Green Bay heads to Dallas in Week 5. Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison would both be in line for more work if Adams misses time.

ProFootballDoc says it's likely a multi-week absence.

Who's likely to be the biggest beneficiary, Allison or MVS? I know GB's offense hasn't been the same this year, but Rodgers WR1 still seems like a worthwhile target.

I give up on trying to figure this one out.  MVS is a better WR, but Allison is better in the slot.  Neither can hold a candle to Adams, so who knows.  The HC does things I don't fully understand and I would be incredibly frustrated if I were a Green Bay fan.  It will probably end up being the waterboy who steps in and does well.  I'm just not a fan of their offense overall and it dates back to 2017.  I own MVS in some leagues and intend on trying to trade him based on the hype he will receive with Adams out.  I'll take a bag of oranges and some red licorice.

Maybe Matt L. learned from his time in TN last season.  He refused to let Henry become a large part of the offense as he wanted to spread the carries out or use the best pass catching back more.  He wasted 3/4 of the season for Henry.  I don't think this will help Jones any more than it will help any other RB on their roster.  Matt seems determined to use a RBBC.  If this guy had E. Smith or Barry Sanders in their prime, he would try to put them in a committee.  It wasn't until Vrabel stepped in last year and told him to give Henry more opportunities that it was done.  As a Coordinator, he was horrible for the offense.  It appears, although it's early yet, that he has not changed his ways.

I think Williams being stretchered off last night will probably have more of a direct impact on Jones' usage.

That's just great, lost Saquon last week and Davante Adams this week.  Good thing I have MVS too, but it won't be the same.

If he does indeed end up missing time, don’t forget about Kumerow...

He had been out with a shoulder injury, but got in limited practices last week, and might “speed up” his recovery if needed.

i would take that risk starting him with his track record. usually does better than 4-46. 3 tough defenses to start season

I could be wrong, but it feels like you are quite possibly the only one out of the millions of FF enthusiasts who hasn't forgotten about Kumerow...

Im still riding Kumerow...and waiting on Jerry Porter? But i'll say Jimmy Graham for fun...if his heart's still in it. Which I will decide on after week 5.

He has a look on the field like he'd rather be flying or doing something besides catching touchdowns.

Packers' top wideout reportedly unlikely to take the field against Cowboys in Week 5

Quote

One of the most important offensive weapons for the Green Bay Packers is in very real danger of being absent when they visit North Texas to take on the familiar Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. Two-time pro bowl wide receiver Davante Adams is currently battling an injury he described to the media as turf toe -- suffered in the fourth quarter of the Week 4 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles -- immediately putting his status against the Cowboys in doubt.

Expected to meet with a specialist to determine the extent of the injury, it's now being reported Adams is flat-out unlikely to take the field in Dallas -- per Adam Schefter when speaking on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown -- which would cost the Packers their most potent receiving threat on the road in hostile territory. Adams mangled the Eagles for 180 receiving yards on 10 catches before leaving that contest, and was primed to again be the favorite weapon of quarterback Aaron Rodgers , who targeted Adams 15 times in the Packers losing effort.

The good news for Green Bay is that, as it stands, there's still hope his absence won't be a prolonged one.

Schefter said this before MNF but Rotoworld didn't pick it up. Weird.

I picked up Allison just in case (MVS was already owned). Don't love the match-up but am a little thin at WR (Kirk potentially injured, JBrown potentially catching passes from Barkley) so it will likely come down to him vs. Waller at my flex.
