Vikings First Round QB Draft Picks: 1977 - Tommy Kramer - 27th 1999 - Daunte Culpepper - 11th 2011 - Christian Ponder - 12th 2014 - Teddy Bridgewater - 32nd That’s a pretty sad list. But half (16) of all starting QBs in the NFL right now we’re Top 10 overall picks and about a 3rd were Top 3. The bust rate on quarterbacks outside that range is incredibly high. A team that never uses a very high 1st on a QB is not likely to have a franchise QB.
