Boston.    The big dig and all of the improvements to the city made over the last 20 yrs have really changed it for the better.    The seaport area used to be where Whitey Bulger dumped the dead bodies.  Now its $2M condos and high end restaraunts.    If they could ever get the transit system working right - it would really be great.    But even without that, it's still better than any city in the US.     Safe, easy to navigate, great restaraunts, the universities, great sport scene, history, etc.

They should do the winter olympics here.   Do all the hockey and skating and stuff like that in Boston.    Then do the skiing at a couple of the mountains up north that could do olympic length downhill runs and events (Cannon, Jay, Sugarloaf, etc).

Cities, not towns. Boston is a town.

Loved San Diego. Was there in 05. But California sure has changed since then.

Hard to argue against NYC being best overall city. I would still prefer to live in any of the Bracket B cities over all of the cities in Bracket A.

Bend?   I just looked it up, apparently it is in Oregon.  It's population in 2018 is estimated at <100K.  It's claim to fame is the last open Blockbuster Video store in the world.  Greatest city!

Good climate.

Camping, not just the obvious ones like Arches, but West Yellowstone is only 4 and a half hours away.

Fishing

Outdoors

Big enough city for events.

etc.

There is one major downside, which does not need to be named, or else no questions asked I would already be living there.

Salt Lake is considered one of the most gay-friendly places to live in the country with a large gay community, as well as the largest Jewish congregation in Utah. This has led to controversy from socially conservative officials, however. A 2006 UCLA study found that 7.6% of the population of the city is openly bisexual or gay, compared to less than 4% for the metropolitan area.

I expected better from you. :nono:

Impossible to say. Everybody wants something different from a city.

NY and LA are great in some ways but can be a major hassle compared to other places.

New Orleans, Santa Fe, SF and NY used to be the most unique, but they’ve all been mainstreamed to some degree.

Outdoor life around Denver is pretty great, but weed has changed things since I spent much time there.

All things considered, I probably had the best meals, gotten the most puss, and had the most fun in SF and Chicago.

Of course this was back in the 90’s before SF really went off the deep end.  I can’t imagine what it’s like there now.

Now that I’ve settled down, I’m quite happy in this small town in Southern Michigan.  Great schools,  beaches outdoor activities and neighbors.

The restuarants here all suck though.  We have to go to Chicago if we want a decent meal out.

Denver honestly kinda sucks imo. Maybe it was great back in the day but now it’s too big and doesn’t seem to have a good big city vibe. Yes being right by the Rockies is great but otherwise it gets a hard meh from me

Agreed with Denver.  No place in Utah can be considered until they change their alcohol laws.

I’ve stayed all over Vegas and my stay at the nugget downtown was the best. It will be hard for me to stay on the strip again.

It's not even that.  In my hotel they would only sell you two drinks, and that was only if your ordered food.  They had a big old sign up saying it was state law.  Just idiotic.  I bought a twelve pack at a store and went back to my room.
