What if the kid somehow contaminated the doughnuts and someone he sold them to got seriously ill?  I don't think Krispy Kreme wants anything like that to happen so they need to protect themselves.  There's a lot more involved in this than most people think.

My initial thought as well. KK should probably have initially come out and said they are suspending selling doughnuts to that dude from doing what he is doing until after understanding possible further legal impacts to their company. Then made a decision. It would have looked better on them in the first place, but this was instant advertising for them in the mean time since they said they support the kid. 

Did they say they hired him as a delivery driver? Which would probably be the very best solution of all for all included. I can't remember.
